We’ve got two games in four days and they’re at home against the Royals (with Keuchel and Teheran starting) before a weekend series at Philly. Gonna be a good week.
He needs days off just like other regulars. We have a really strong bench and Snit needs to use it! I know, stating the obvious but it looks like guys just get worn down. Nice to get the series split which was critical.
We might end up missing Nola too. They have him and Velasquez pitching Tuesday and Wednesday then have an off day Thursday. Could end up getting some combo of Eflin, Pivetta, Arrieta, or Smyly (pfffffffffft) if they don’t skip guys to get Nola on normal rest.
He looked like he was throwing his slider. He had something that moved horizontally that hit around 83-84 mph
LMAO MLB Pipeline did a piece on the next most likely HOFer from each organization and they chose Victor Victor Mesa for the Marlins. By the way, he just turned 23 this week and has a .253/.297/.286 slash line in his first 82 games of A+ baseball.
Bryce Ball hit his 10th homer in 27 games (that's 60 per 162 games for those who like that sort of thing) for Danville yesterday to bring his slash line on the season to .330/.417/.732 10 homers, 9 doubles, and 29 RBI with a 16.4% K-rate to a 12.7% walk rate William Contreras had a good game for Mississippi last night. 4 out of 5 (all singles) with 3 RBI. He's got a .529/.550/.588 slash line over his last 5 games so he may finally be heating up Jenista also went 3 for 5 (all singles). .265/.333/.510 in July for him which is a big improvement. Trey Harris went 2 for 5 in his third AA game and is still tearing up the ball. Waters was 3 for 5 and hit his 32nd double of the season. Wentz went 8 innings on 96 pitches and gave up three runs on 5 hits and a walk with 5 strikeouts. Langeliers and Shewmake both had 2 hits for Rome and one of Shewmake's was his 12th double. Langeliers didn't have any XBH but he added a walk as well. Other 2019 draft picks at the GCL so far: Michael Harris, 3rd round: 16 games, .352/.426/.426 Stephen Paolini, 5th round: 13 games, .137/.262/.137 Vaughn Grissom, 11th round: 17 games, .242/.315/.409 Jared Johnson, 14th round, 2 IP, 1 hit, 1 K, .143 oBA, .50 WHIP, 0.00 ERA Joey Estes, 16th round: 1st appearance Saturday, 2 IP with no walks or runs, 1 hit, 3 strikeouts Makhi Backstrom, 18th round: 3 games, .444/.500/.556 Kadon Morton, 19th round: 12 games, .139/.244/.194 Cade Bunnell, 40th round: 8 games, .105/.346/.105
they said in the write up “your guess is as good as ours” because of how awful that team/farm is probably woulda gone castro or something tho
His mom passed away while they were in Atlanta signing and making everything official, is my understanding.
From Jim Bowden, so grain of salt, etc: The Braves continue to focus on pursuing Bumgarner, but like every other team, they are not convinced that he’s actually going to be traded now. The Braves like Stroman, too, but are set on any move they make being a more impactful one, as they believe a potential Bumgarner pick-up would be. Atlanta was also pleased by how well Kevin Gausman threw on Sunday, and with Keuchel, Soroka, Fried, Gausman and Teheran, they think they have enough, especially with Mike Foltynewicz having a really good start in AAA recently. The team doesn’t see itself as needing to fill a roster hole; they want to acquire a difference-maker, whether it’s a starter, reliever or bat — just like GM Alex Anthopoulos did when he was GM of the Blue Jays and acquired David Price and Troy Tulowitzki.
I think the Royals only have one active pitcher below a 4.00 ERA (their "closer", Ian Kennedy) Should be a fun 2 game series if the bats show up.
Good chance here to increase the lead before we head to Washington. We get Royals for 2 and Phils for 3 while they have 4 with Rockies and 3 with Dodgers.
I could see them winning 3 or 4 in Colorado. Would love to see them split and then get wrecked by the Dodgers in 3 straight.
Folty getting right is the equivalent of John Rocker starting an inner city public school scholarship fund.
Missed this the other day. Would make some sense, and Braves have plenty of connection with the Orioles FO thanks to Mike Fast. NL teams showing interest in O's reliever: On Tuesday, the Phillies, Braves, Diamondbacks and Padres all had representatives at Camden Yards, where Orioles reliever Mychal Givens seems to be drawing his fair share of interest. "His velocity's ticking up," says one scout. "He's pitching like he wants to get out of there."
remaining schedule: kansas city (x2) @philly (x3) @washington (x3) cincy (x4) @ minnesota (x3) @ miami (x4) nym (x3) LA (x3) miami (x3) @nym (x3) @colorado (x1) @toronto (x2) cws (x3) toronto (x2) washington (x4) @philly (x4) @washington (x3) philly (x3) san fran (x3) @kansas city (x2) @nym (x3) outside of dodgers and twins, august is favorable. tons of stuff against the phils and nats in september tho
I like seeing La again late in a way so we can see where we stack after the deadline to the NL’s best.
let's go 4-1 this week and really get some separation my projections say that a week from now we will be 8.5 games up on the nats and 9.5 up on the phillies
Since there’s no game I can discuss my scouting report of Langeliers and Shewmake. Fellas we got problems. They combined to go 0/8 with 8 LOB. Shewmake is so lanky a strong wind gust would sprain an ankle. And Langeliers is such a defensive liability that they’re already hiding him at DH. Can’t believe we wasted our first two picks. Drafting my #FireAA letter now, will send to Liberty and CC Clown Baby
