I really hope behind the scenes that the lack of Fred’s contract extension isn’t a bubbling issue. I’m not suggesting it’s to blame for his early struggles. I think it’s probably his mind is a little torn between baseball and his his wife and young kids. And if so, it’s completely understandable. And if so, not having a long term contract in place is only adding to his stress. I just wish he was killing it at the plate and don’t want to lose him. His childhood favorite will have an opening at first and $30m coming off the books at the position.
