Shane quietly at a 4.76 ERA in his last 5.2 innings That he’s gotten to completely fluky and his peripherals are still ass. He fucking sucks
If I’m a rebuilding team with low future salary commitments, I’d take on at least a large chunk of that Hosmer deal if they’re attaching significant prospects with it. Coppy would have been all over a deal like that during our rebuild.
today is a can't lose. tomorrow is a must win. just want to make sure we're all on the same page here
To be honest, the last couple of times we've played to get to .500 we've looked like a little league team so let's just say I've had enough of the Braves for today and I'm not even going to watch these bums tonight.
Riley is hitting .330/.414/.638 in the last month. Which is even cooler considering his BABIP is lower in that time frame than during the whole season and he's at a 12.6% BB rate and 16.2% K rate compared to 9.3% and 26.6% on the season before this month. So maybe he's taken another step with his approach.
If Riley continues improving the core isn’t bad when TDA returns with Freddie, Oz, Riles, Joc and TDA. If we could add a bat to that mix and cut the dead weight in Panda/Almonte/Smith for Demeritte/Waters/Contreras we’d be able to win the east. Losing Ron sucks but this teams isn’t as lost as we want to make it seem at times(season is still cancelled though). Bullpen also needs an arm or two added. If you can do those things without losing too much then you go for it.
If Muller and Touki keep pitching like they are, I'm very excited for next season. Just need to re-sign Fred. Bullpen should probably bounce back or at least the ones that had down years this year and should be the biggest area where we spend money. Rotation/Pen: Anderson Fried Soroka Muller Touki Ynoa Tucker Will Smith Duke Martin Matzek Santana Dayton Minter Newk Probably time to make some decisions on Wright, Wilson or at least try them as relievers if they can't make it as starters. May have some guys like Kalich, Burrows, or Diaz that are ready to give it a shot at the next level. C: Contreras/Langeliers/Jackson 1B: Fred 2B: Ozzie SS: Dans 3B: Riley OF: Ronnie OF: Joc (mutual option) OF: Pache/Waters/Ozuna? Harris and Franklin another year closer to the show as well
the pen really hasnt been bad recently. some of the earlier troubles were variance and the starters not helping out. guys like matzek have seemingly righted the ship
I think Pryme would be a lot better out of the pen unless he develops another pitch. Not enough variety to make it through the lineup more than once. But like I said, he could be the next Lance Lynn
really glad we let him walk for practically nothing, tried to trade actual assets to get him back and were firmly told no sick stuff as always AA
this logic is stupid as shit tho. the marlins arent going to be competing for a while. adam duvall has absolutely no place in their future plans. who gives a fuck if you trade him to atlanta and he rakes against you for a season or two. just take the best offer of course it makes sense that a pos organization that thought acuna for realmuto was a fair deal is delusional enough to do this
oh for sure. but that just makes it even dumber. congrats on owning us by not getting an asset or two for adam duvall. that'll show us
You have to sign some pen help this offseason. We also 100% need a catcher that doesn't fucking suck. That said, I don't see how we can afford to do anything. Fred's is gonna go from 22mm to like 35. Ron is going from 5 to 15. Dansby is gonna go from like 6 to 12. Joc goes from 0 to $10mm. That's 40mm++ in payroll increase if you start including some guys that will get bumped in arbitration. The only real offsets of not are Joker/Chuck and we're 100% not going to roll into next season with that rotation above. We'll sign a vet pitcher for 10mm. So we're have to increase payroll by like 35mm (like 30% of our current payroll). We still need a catcher that can hit. We desperately need bench help.
We're at 165mil total in payroll this year and we only have 68 mil on the books next year assuming mutual opt-in on Joc's option before all the arbitration and pre-arb guys are worked out or re-signing Freddie.
We also have near the best attendance in the league and close to the top fan following outside of the Yankees, cubs, and dodgers. I think the ownership group would survive and still take in millions
