Has to be added to the 40 man to be called up, so not likely. I think Coppy already stated that Acuna will be going to the AFL, so he'll get his extra ABs there.
40-man roster spots are tight, so I'd be surprised. Acuna doesn't have to be protected this offseason, but they've got to add Gohara, Dustin Peterson and Ricardo Sanchez for sure, and make decisions on Demerritte, Lindgren and Dirks. So, ideally, you don't want to give Acuna a spot until you're ready to bring him up for good.
It'll be a close call for sure. On one hand, he's 20 and hasn't been above High-A. On the other, really nice fastball/curve combo, left-handed and 101 K's in 99 innings this year. I *think* they'd be fine, but someone like San Diego could pop him and try and sneak him through the year as a reliever.
Updated Top-10 Prospect Lists: NL East by Eric Longenhagen - August 14, 2017 Atlanta Braves 1. Ronald Acuna, CF 2. Ozzie Albies. 2B 3. Kyle Wright, RHP 4. Luiz Gohara, LHP 5. Kolby Allard, LHP 6. Kevin Maitan, SS 7. Ian Anderson, RHP 8. Mike Soroka, RHP 9. Joey Wentz, LHP 10. Cristian Pache, CF Albies hasn’t moved down so much as Acuna has simply moved up with his dominant performance in the upper minors at age 19. Wright is throwing harder as a pro than he was at Vandy earlier this year, but that’s probably because he’s letting it fly in short stints. Gohara is touching 99 in Triple-A but has been uncharacteristically wild there, as well. Reports on Maitan have been mixed (there are some concerns about how quickly his body has matured, for one), but it’s just his first season. Wentz has had success while competing with just two pitches at times as he focuses on pitch development. (Preseason List)
Some dumb bastard is going to try this on his wife "Honey, I'm worried about how quickly your body has matured since our wedding day"
The pitching in that top 10 list is insane and doesn't include Bryce Wilson, Touki, Fried, Newcomb, etc
Austin Riley is 2-2 so far tonight and is quietly having a really good month... hitting .381 with a .886 OPS so far in August.
Also the Danville guys are having a night. Drew Waters has a 3-run homer, Contreras is 1-2 with a 2B, and Maitan is 2-2 with a 2B and an RBI
How bout Motte lol? They're both shit and Snitker managed this game at a Frediot level. The Braves better rethink bringing Snit back because he can't manage in-game worth a shit.
Guys, please use Snitwit® when referencing the Barves manager who inexplicably keeps trotting Krol and Brothers out there. I grant you all a license to do so.
Johan Camargo out longer than expected still receiving treatment for knee When Johan Camargo was diagnosed with a bone bruise in his right knee the thought was that he would be able to return in about two weeks. That estimate might have been a bit optimistic. Camargo is back in Atlanta undergoing treatment but manager Brian Snitker is backing off that original projection. "We don't know," Braves manager Brian Snitker said. "He'll be day to day depending on the bruise and how he heals."
If I'm Coppy, I'm calling Houston and telling them they want/need RA to stop the bleeding in their rotation and that they also want/need to give us top prospects to do that.
Should cut all of our shitty vets and just pull up prospects, not to try to win now but groom them at the mlb level. Brothers, krol, motte, etc need to go.
Stanton cleared waivers, do we trade them Julio, Markasis, Kemp, and a couple of duds like Blair and Wisler? Couple boxes of lightbulbs for their carousel?
I don't see them taking Markakis and Kemp money back nor do I see us taking Stanton money on and paying for most of what's left for Kemp/Markakis
I cant imagine them trading away there #1 asset in the organization before the new owners take over. That seems like it would be too massive of a decision and leave it to the incoming jeter group
Except hitting homers for us. Acuna, Ender, Stanton, with Freddie mixed in for Flavor? Phillips at 3b and we got a stew brewing
Newcomb has made some really impressive pitches tonight. He has flashed top of the rotation stuff a lot this year
One of the bright spots of this season is letting him get acclimated to the majors. Will pay dividends next season
