In some cases you might need to remove the entire counter top from the cabinets to replace the basin. It depends on space. Edit: Happened to me. And no I didn't get ripped, just had help. If you are doing this on your own or with someone you know and trust, not a huge deal. If you are bringing someone in off the street to quote this out, just don't be shocked, that's all.
I was hoping to not mess with the granite at all. I guess the ideal would be that the sink can just be swapped out without disrupting anything else.
So we bought a lot last month and were about to buy house plans (planned to pay for them today) when my wife sent me a link to a house in the subdivision that we’ve been looking in (and where we bought our lot). They reduced the price and it’s now in our range so I set up a viewing and ended up putting in an offer which they accepted yesterday. Oh and my wife was out of town and wasn’t able go see the house. So if she doesn’t like it I may be visiting you guys in the divorce thread soon. Wish me luck.
Some fuckwads broke into my backyard and stole our locked up bikes. I need to security cam this place down I guess. Anyone have rec's for motion security cams?
I just got 3 blink XT in the mail today. Buddy of mine has them and said good things. There was a good Prime deal on them.
We did this ourselves - the whole deal, numbering, removing, sanding, painting, and reinstalling - Pain. In. The. Ass.
The battery holds up really, really well. I probably get 2/3 months out of normal use from mine. I just charged one of them up last night and it took less than 2 hours to charge it up. The app is good too. Highly recommend it.
Yes, hello friends. Here's a story and I was hoping someone could ease my concerns. For three years I worked for the same company in Florida making 44k. When the wife and I had a baby we decided to move back to Nebraska to be closer to family. I took a job at 44k up there and we moved in May of 17. In September I was laid off and out of work for a month. I took a job in a totally different field at 42k in Omaha. It was a bad fit to say the least and I resigned on April 18th. I realized that the need for my line of work up in Nebraska just wasn't great so contacted my old employer in Florida. They happened to have a position and offered it to me at 55k, I (obviously) accepted and I start on 7/30. Will that gap in unemployment prevent me from getting an FHA loan? Our combined income will be just over 100 and we are looking at a 240k home. We both have over 700 credit scores. I'm terrified the job situstion up there is going to hurt. I'm tired of paying rent and renting for a year will only make me watch the price of these homes keep going up.
It depends on your type of income. If you are salary, you should be fine with a letter of explanation regarding the gaps. If you receive any overtime, bonus or commission income that would likely not be usable. As an aside, why are you going with with FHA? Unless you have serious derogatory credit history, there are better & cheaper low down payment options.
Yes, I'm salaried and have the offer letter handy. Doing FHA because we don't have 20% of 240k down. If I'm a dummy and missing a better option I would gladly like to hear more. Also, the builder has no closing costs of you go through their lender. Over on the east coast its just as cheap to build new as it is to buy used.
With the costs of rents right now and the rising housing costs? Too long. Our old neighbors purchased three years ago for 260 and were just assessed at 350. Rents are just as much as mortgages now here. Over it, need to start building my own equity.
Ah yes. A warm summer morning, chirping of the birds, and the sounds of a Hispanic work crew rebuilding dry wall in your basement that had been destroyed by condensation from the AC duct
I don't know what that is? If its a burn, thanks for using this home buying thread to trash me buying my first home and I'm sorry it's not fancy enough for you.
No. It’s not a burn. Lennar is building 90% of the new communities in Florida. I’ve looked at like 5 different ones during my search for my first home. I figured that’s what you were looking at so took a stab and congratulated you in advance.
I’m even more shocked you haven’t run into a Lennar property yet. Feel like I get an email every week from them about a new community in that area. Enjoy your home near dunk city
DR Horton and LGI homes seem to have the market on lock around here on these generic me a starter home type deals.
Hey guys, thanks for all the input for the homeowners. It’s time for me to live that rental life for the next year or so while we figure out where to settle down in my new territory. It is going to be nice not having to deal with the maintenance and upkeep for a while. Although it sucks knowing I’m not getting any equity each month all while dealing with a small apartment.
Love my house but I easily pay more in interest and maintenance (100 year old house) per month than a monthly rent payment would be on an equivalent rental. I guess I don’t buy the narrative that buying is always the “right” choice. Just a super leveraged bet on a single piece of real estate which may or may not work out.
