Based on a quick google search, concrete weighs about 145lb per cubic foot, so it doesn't seem like that much when you look at it like that. 145lb seems high but I don't think google has ever been wrong.
That’s correct, 150 is the pretty typical rounded estimate (depends on the exact mix and if there’s rebar in it).
That’s excessive. I paid $150 for the place I bought it from to install mine because fuck trying to lift that heavy ass backboard up without proper equipment
Man, what the fuck was the original designer of that floor plan thinking? Terrible use of space. Going to look great more open.
About to undertake the same job once we can string together 3 days without rain. Couldn't believe how much quikrete the manual said I needed.
We’re moving out of Pensacola finally. Got our condo listed Sunday afternoon, realtor scheduled 6 showings, and we had 3 offers by last night. One more offer to come this morning. All 3 met the listing price and then 1 went about 15% higher over a paranoia that she’ll lose out on another condo. I have high doubts that it appraises that high so that’ll affect the financing but she’ll likely still be the top offer once that gets reworked so in all likelihood, we’re going with that and going under contract tonight. Looking forward to reading and posting in here more since we’ll be getting our first single family home in the next few weeks.
Tallahassee. My wife’s family is there and it seems to be more of an epicenter for our friends; most either live there or visit several times a year. I’ve always liked the better access to Georgia and central Florida. And I don’t give 2 shits about the beach so give me that sweet lake/spring life nearby.
buying doors is annoying. So damn expensive when your house has odd door sizes and waiting four weeks isn't fun either.
Also. What does everyone think of the Lutron Caseta system? Putting 56 lights in and want to automate as much of it as possible.
We have an older house and my wife felt the urge to replace like all 20 of them. Holy shit was that more expensive than I would have guessed
yea, looking at $440 each for the closet doors (has a full length mirror in the back) and $250 each for 4 interior doors that needed to be replaced.
Mixing that much cement, even in batches, was a major PITA. We got a little rain yesterday but it had already set for almost 48 hours at that point, and I’m not planning to finish building the goal until this weekend so there shouldn’t be a problem. We’d had the old, water/sand base one for a good 8 years and the new one has been in the garage, in the box, for almost a year and a half.
On a very similar note, never get a 12 person dining room table unless you are fully prepared for the cost of 12 dining chairs...
I wouldn't even want a 12 person table. My family isn't that big and I'm not hosting huge dinner parties. If so people are eating outside. I would say an 8 person table max with table leaf. Keep 6 chair out at most.
Plus china and other table settings. I haven't run into this yet, but when we move in a couple years, I'm gonna run face first into this.
We did bone China from Fitz & Floyd. Nice enough to use for formal settings but durable enough to use for everyday. Saved us from having to get an extra set of shit we would hardly ever use and then buying an extra piece of furniture just to store it. We have 16 settings and have maybe broken 5 items in 9 years.
Ask around for anyone pouring a job that has some over on the truck. They can put it in the clean out in a pickup and bring it by.
Have vinyl planks at current house and they are indestructible. Real wood at new house and has some nicks I'll have to touch up You can tell the vinyl isn't really wood even though it looks good but will probably miss it
I let mine fill up for first time. 834 thirty second videos at best quality. Just realized also have enhanced quality option and don't know what that means
Not truly home related, but more camping. Any one know anything about deep cycle battery and power inverter connections? Mine worked one time and now it won't. I thought I stored everything properly. I'm lost. Is the inverter bad? Is the battery cranking out too much power?
Not really sure exactly what you’re trying to do, but this is how my house is set up. Each can light individually connects to my WiFi network. Each room has its own group of lights that are automatically operated on a scheduled basis, or I can manually operate them via switches or with Alexa. https://www.eaton.com/flash/electrical/connectedlighting/products/halo-home/ Like 90% of my house is automated at his point.
First guess is the battery is not cranking too much power. How did you have it stored? Plugged in? Plugged into what kind of connection?
The inverter was stored in it's original cardboard box and styrofoam edges for fit, just like it was shipped. That box was in a storage tote in my garage. It just makes the continuous whistle. The battery was stored charged, but hasn't been used in a while. It sat in my garage on a wood block. I plugged up a small air pump, and it powered it directly. Here is a page of the manual for the inverter. Spoiler 1. Input under-voltage alarm: When the input DC voltage is lower than 10.6V, the buzzer will whistle intermittently to warn the user that the inverter will go into the under voltage protec- tion. If this happens, be sure to save all your data if a comput- er is being used. 2. Under voltage protection: The inverter will automatically shut down when the input DC voltage is higher than 16V. The buzzer will whistle continuously. The green light will turn off and the red light will turn on. Turn off the inverter and charge the battery before continuing use. 3. Over voltage protection: The inverter will automatically shut down when the input DC voltage is higher than 16V. The buzzer will whistle continuously and the switch indicator light will turn on. If this happens, turn off the inverter and adjust the input voltage to the allowed range. 4. Overload protection: The inverter will automatically shut down when the load power is higher than the rated power. The buzzer will whistle continuously. Turn off the inverter and resume normal operation after taking away the redundant load. 5. Thermal protection: The unit will be hot during operation. If the temperature is higher than 149°F, the inverter will auto- matically shut down. The buzzer will whistle continuously, the green light will turn off, and the red light will turn on. Turn off the inverter. I'm guessing my battery is crapped.
That was my plan. Want something that I can group all my switches plus control my blinds that I will eventually put in.
Have 4 smart Leviton dimmers and they work well. App allows grouping by rooms. Works with Alexa. Slightly cheaper than Lutron if you’re going bulk. Lutron has the remote if you’re into that but I always have my phone or can yell at Alexa.
