We got lucky as most of the hardwood tile was level 5/6 but they just got this new tile and put it at level 3. We did most of the house except the bedrooms and office. It was around $8k.
One of my favorite hobbies is getting a quote on something, laughing at the price, taking the job on myself, and halfway through it wishing I'd just have paid someone else to do it The heat index is 105 here and I have been outside the last three hours building a small stone border wall. It is somehow going faster than expected but sucking 100 times more than I thought it would.
So, it completely depends on your situation but in an old house we got a portable AC and ducted it out of a window, it was great because we didn’t have kids at the time and could turn the house AC warm at night and just use that unit to make our bedroom like 67, and rest of the house like 75+. We also sleep with white noise and it was the best white noise there is. The unit looked clean and with the way our windows were it actually his ok. The one we had was $300ish, it was big because we had a big master bedroom. So if you want cheap(er than calling an AC guy and possible energy savings), easy, and not worried about the rest of the house too much
Yeah so one of my neighbors is a graphic designer (real one, gets paid to do it and everything) and has gone too far into the diy range of stuff and his most recent half assed project included that aforementioned drilling without getting a permit etc and almost hit the gas line for his building that would've affected him and his neighbors in their townhomes.
My dad said he’d bring his truck over so I could use it to load up a bunch of retaining wall blocks the previous owner used to build a terrible fire pit. Was about 80 this morning, but he decided to wait until about 2pm when it was like 95 out. Turned out to be about 3x the amount of blocks I was expecting too since god knows how many were dug into the ground. Was happy to follow that up with a sprinkler head install which allowed me to walk through it while making sure it was facing the right way.
Just got our LG appliances delivered. We’ve always had good luck with them. Also, it’s great to just enjoy the house for the first month until any bills are due. Feel like I’m living for free right now.
Took a broken 55” TV to the dump yesterday and got to throw it down about 10 feet into a dumpster of other electronics. That was fun.
Haven’t used either but I’m happy with my other nest cams. If you’re adding other cams elsewhere go with those same brand
Recently got a door lock at Lowe's and love it. It's awesome never having to take your car/house keys out of your pocket at all any more. I got the one where you can punch in a code to enter which was also nice while my mom was in town over the 4th.
We’re moving about four hours away later this week, which is the farthest I’ve ever moved. What’s the protocol on tipping movers in this situation? Because of the distance, it has to be a multiday job. They pick our stuff up on Saturday, then it stays on site until Monday morning when they drive it to our new home. I’m guessing still just tip after it’s delivered, right? We usually do like $20 per guy, but should it be more since it’s a longer distance?
Of course tipping all depends on the service. I did $20 per person and bought lunch for them on our move last week.
Of course, but they’re being paid for their time by their company. The tip is for loading and unloading the stuff, no? I intend to tip. I just didn’t know how much more to tip because it’s a longer move.
I don't have an answer for you on what amount is appropriate. Just know that I'd expect a bigger tip if I moved someone across state lines (assuming it wasn't a short distance).
I remember I did tip more when we moved from Tampa to Melbourne last year. Can’t remember the amount though. Just go with your gut. Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose.
Idk why I can’t get these to upload to imgur, but almost all the hardieboard is up. Have to fix the plumbing in the wall before final hardieboard is up. Added a couple shelves for soaps and what not. Still so much to do, and taking a lot longer than expected lol.
You using red guard or a moisture barrier on that? If I’m looking at a shower. Also, just upload images from your phones camera reel. It’s 2019.
Ourselves Will redguard the entire bathroom. Also, I tried. It just takes me to what’s stored on the cloud. That’s our non-helper Tosu.
Went off the company policy sheet. I guess they “got me” then. Whatever. This quote was much less then any of the other quotes I got.
Yea. $100 tip for 3 guys. They were really good though. Seems like I tipped too much but oh well. Can’t fix it now
