I have an uncle who takes everyone's unused incandescent and fluorescent bulbs.. I showed him the math and he couldn't understand how getting something for free is not the smart move But then he plays bingo every day and can accurately fill out an unseen card 50+ balls into a game.. Brains are amazing
We’re talking about convincing his lady “it’s the same thing” and you’re going to trifle around with +/- 300k? Sadist.
GC called back, “That’s asshole I told him 3 times no LEDs. I’ll take care of it.”. A good contractor is worth their weight in incandescent inflated electrical bills.
Thats the exact size we are looking for. Nothing over 3000 square feet and hoping for a good location.
The LED thing is blowing my mind. If that's not a stupid wife thing, I don't know what is. I spent about 50 hours this summer hunting down all of my non-LEDs
I found an incandescent in a lamp the other day and it pissed me off that it had probably been there for a year or more
Me too. Although I lose a month of my life every time the power bill comes in, so maybe it's just that
Anyone ever had their crawlspace encapsulated? Notice any difference? We are moving forward with it in a couple weeks. It's a little pricey but hoping it will knock down electricity bills, humidity etc.
It's something I would do in my house if I were there long term. My house is terribly insulated and it has to be killing my gas/power bills. I did buy the little styrofoam covers to put in every wall outlet facing the outside. I honestly doubt it moves the needle at all but it made me feel a little better.
She was fine for 15 years, then shot out a kid. Now everything is trying to kill her/him in some manner.
My friend who doesnt even have a gf or a pet just bought a +2800 sqft house and it makes no sense. He can do what he wants with his money it just seems excessive and not very practical for someone who doesnt want a family.
passed that hurdle as well 5 years ago, we worked through the uber-protective phase. Was pretty easy, he is a boy, he is going to get hurt. Asked her if she wanted a son that was afraid of everything and whether a man like that makes for a good husband. Logic trumped emotion that day.
lol at people who think they can judge whether something is excessive for someone else. If they have the money and that’s what they want good for them. Whether that is their fourth house, 300’ yacht, or whatever. Good for them.
Yuuuup. We’re trending more towards the dumb shit your wife/girlfriend does thread at this point though. No need to junk this thread up.
I would have had to listen to her explanation. At this point it’s “I don’t want LEDs”. “Ok whatever”.
I did tell her dad about it this AM and he was beside himself about it. They’re coming over tonight for his birthday and he said he was going to talk to her about it. I’m sure I’ll hear all about it once he does, if I want to or not.
I don't think its going to make him happy. He's already complaining about upkeep and how he has to scale back other things he likes. I've known him 25 years so I'm not making a superficial comment.
He's gonna tell her the exact same things user BuckeyeRiot did, but she'll take her dads word over his. But, at least he'll get LEDs out of it, and a lower electric bill.
LOL asked a couple of guys I work with if they've ever noticed any water dripping out of their hose spigot in cold winter. Basically a consensus that it’s normal, “nothing to worry about, they’re usually setup to be frost free” One dude even sent me a pic of his hose with like 3 feet of ice due to a drip (before he moved in when it was just his then GF’s house) As I said last page, I hope to one day not worry about shit like this.
If I had to venture a guess, she probably uses her blue light filter on her iPhone and knows that super bring LEDs (and the shitty white LED Christmas lights) have a blue hue to them and probably thinks it's affecting her sleep and maybe something else. She also probably has no idea how many normal looking LED lights she uses for light every day.
This is like your wife insisting you buy a tube TV or use cast iron pipes for your plumbing. Simply no good reason for her position.
If an inspector inspects your house and gets electrocuted from checking the heating and breaks your heat is the inspection company responsible
