I had a couch and ottoman coming last month after a 6-8 week period from when I ordered. Couch came a few weeks ago no problem. Ottoman was supposed to be delivered yesterday within a 3 hour window. Multiple emails and automated texts to confirm the delivery time yesterday. The three hours came and went and it never came and I never heard a peep. Talked to customer service today and the ottoman isn’t even in stock yet....like, how is this place so bad at their job? Don’t care that it isn’t in stock, I get it. But to have no lie 5-6 communications to confirm and it never got flagged or anything? I was able to track the delivery vehicle through one of the links and the ottoman isn’t even in the warehouse, much less the truck.
Bob’s discount furniture. Pretty cheap, entry level stuff but it was the only place that had anything available in the next 6-8 weeks instead of 6 months. Will use this one for a year or two then get a nicer one I’d presume. We just wanted something in there quickly.
Home depot is disappointing. In November we ordered a new vanity for my girls daughters bathroom. Delivery expected second week of December. We did the demo and got everything setup for vanity install. We call and are told that it's been shipped and the shipping company will be in contact 48 hours prior to delivery to arrange a time/date. Nobody calls and we leave several voicemails with shipping company. Finally we get ahold of someone at the shipping company and tell them if it's not delivered by Xmas they need to hold it because we will be on vacation and unable to accept delivery. No further response. On December 30th, while on a peak in Arizona, phone rings and it's my neighbour. They just delivered, to my driveway, in the rain. Just left it there. My neighbour ran over and through a tarp over it. I have ring so I know they never even went to the door. We call and home depot says not there problem it's delivery companies. Call delivery and once again get voice mail. We're not going to be back in town for for another 10 days. Finally we call my pops who's super power is Karen'ing. He explains to local home depot manager that as they delivered at a not agreed upon time and no one signed for delivery its their merchandise that will be sitting in the elements for the next 10 days its their call. Eventually they get a truck and come collect it. Then, shockingly they lost it. They have been looking for it for weeks. At 6 am this morning, with no notification, my ring doorbell alerts to movements. I look out and see them lowering the boxes out of the truck. By the time I get out there they have once again left it in the driveway, in the fucking rain, and are starting to drive off. Had to bang on the truck and have them move the pallette into the garage. I go in and glance at my phone before back to sleep. An email from home depot asking "how did we do?" First time they have initiated communication in this whole deal. Doesn't look damaged which is a pleasant surprise.
Regardless, that's pretty terrible customer service. We got our sectional and an accent chair for the bedroom from Ashley. Both took about 3 months.
The sectional came in a few weeks ago and they were supposed to set it up (screw in the legs) but the flooring wasn’t done and the guy was coughing all over the place so I just said I would do it. Unwrapped them and they didn’t have the insert screw holes to screw the legs into. Took some photos, contacted customer service, showed them, and they said they could have someone out in 6 weeks to “assess the problem” (which, it’s obvious what the problem is) or I could just have it as is, and they gave me a 400 dollar gift card to their store. The ottoman thing is going to get me another gift card....to a store I want nothing to do with.
Already got an offer at full price minus 5k closing costs. Waiting on another offer that was due by 5:00.
We had to get our fridge delivered to our townhouse in Atlanta and had it sit in the living room for like 2-3 weeks before we moved in. That was back in like September, can imagine it only got worse
Ordered a GE Profile fridge from Best buy and it showed up damaged. Ordered the same one ft appliance factory and got it the next day. This all happened in January. Guess it just depends on brand? I know some we looked at were out of stock.
Second offer was full asking with us paying no closing costs. Realtor is giving the first offer an opportunity to beat it.
If you find one, send him my way if he/she works fort worth. We are looking at at ~15x20 concrete pad with 2 cedar posts and tieing into the existing flat roof, and first quote was $28k. No utilities other than wiring for fans. I'm not looking for a cheap option, but I still think that is 5-8k above fair price.
Anyone have their second story floor decking repaired when replacing the flooring? My home is 30 years old and the carpet upstairs needs to be replace at some point but my main issue is the floor and stairs squeak in certain spots as I am sure it’s due to the nails loosening and the subfloor settling. Was wondering if when we replace the carpet if the same crew can fix those areas or if I need to rip it up and fix it before they come to replace the carpet. Any thoughts?
Good chance they used particle board (this is not the same as OSB) as underlayment for the carpet areas. That stuff is garbage. Pull up a floor register (if one exists) and report back on substrate. Ideally you'd have glued down (nailed as well) 3/4" structural subfloor.
Went and looked at two houses this weekend. One was decent but didn’t have enough space. The other was a dump. There are no other houses we’re even interested in looking at. Our realtor expected the dump to have 5+ offers over asking due to its proximity to Portland. The lack of inventory is crazy.
Houses are put up for sale and sold so fast around here that we basically had to build if we wanted any time at all to make decisions. People buying sight unseen, willing to forego inspections, etc. Spent more than we planned, but it ended up being the best decision.
Plumbers came out and fixed the leak this morning. Fortunate it was just out in the yard. Easier fix for them than my wallet.
