About to sign up for phase 1 of landscaping. Going to remove 5 cedars, 1 magnolia, 2 youpons, a crepe myrtle, a shit ton of hollys, and trimming 8 more trees. And taking down big bertha here
a.tramp This is purely hypothetical. No intentions nor the budget nor the house to actually do this. But if you had unlimited funds and an empty backyard in which you could build any traditional pool you wanted, what're you using? Chlorine? Salt water? What kind of pumps? What is the bottom made out of? So forth and so on. Thx. I'll hang up and listen.
No grottos or anything special. Just a standard rectangular run of the mill suburban pool with no budget.
So a basic design like this. Spa only elevated 1”-2” above pool level which takes away the need for check valves on the spa feature and spa return plumbing so less long term maintenance/parts replacement. Having the spa and tanning ledge on the same side of the pool with steps going down. Not a true deep end pool but on the other side of the pool from the spa reaching 6’ deep and a sitting ledge along the entire width. As far as surface material, being in a really hot climate, I would go with a light color as dark plasters can make a pool pretty much un-swimmable in Dallas by late July - Early August. On top of that, I personally prefer the light blue light water color. Also to mention, light plasters make maintaining easier as it is super easy to see algae blloms starting. Dark plaster and large aggregate Pebble finishes can harbor a full blown algae bloom before anyone is even aware. I like Pebbletec’s PebbleFina. Super smooth and durable surface. https://www.pebbletec.com/browse-our-products/pool-finishes/pebble-fina/
Folks, this is why you ask hypotheticals like this. Let the fucking expert dream a bit and see what he creates! 10/10
As far as equipment, mostly all Pentair. IntelliFlo VSF 3.0 HP variable speed & energy efficient pump. FNS Plus 60 sq ft filter MasterTemp 400k HD heater (cupro-nickel heat exchange) EasyTouch PS computer with ScreenLogic (phone control) IntelliBrite 5G color LED lights Rainbow 320 Chlorinator IntelliChem Sanitizer (liquid chlorine & acid monitoring & feed system) Paramount UV2 2-lamp sanitizer (only non-Pentair item) The last thing is a cleaner. I love the robotics but tech support for them is somewhat non-existent so anytime there is a big issue with them, it is pretty much a replacement. So if not that route, Pentair Letro LA01N booster pump & Legend pool sweep.
About 4 years ago I got quoted $35k for a similar set-up from a guy I know. So yeah, it was discounted pretty well. Depending on the builder and methods involved, it could be anywhere between $50k-$100k. The wide price range has to do with if the builder uses piers, what tile & coping quality you go with, etc.
Our landscaping is a nightmare. That post probably reads like I have a big yard - I don't. My front is all ground cover because it's 100% shade. The big oak has pushed through the fence and the driveway. Several of the trees are on the other side of the fence in the alley and kind of a hazard. We ultimately want grass for the kids and need clean things out first. We'll still have something like 7 mature trees on a pretty small lot.
I believe they’re best known for crawling into your nose and ears and burrowing into your brain to lay eggs.
I have friends in the early stages of designing a pool and they’re trying to decide between level or elevated hot tub. You say elevated is bad?
Not bad necessarily but by design, can and will cost them more issues/money long term. Not a ton, but when it comes to an investment that you will never see tangible money back out of, only possible enjoyment, every bit helps.
If you guys want something fun to do… I’ve been wrestling with one little plastic nut on the underside of a bathroom faucet that I’ve all but destroyed while trying to unscrew it. All the little plastic bits from my channel lock falling in my eyes while I’m squeezed through cabinet door. lots of fun…
Agreed. Article to determine below. https://beauregardparishcountrylife...ted-bug-and-milkweed-assassin-bug-nymphs/amp/
Finished the shower today, but probably going to have to change how tbe showerhead sits. It looks cool but isn't very sturdy/don't think it will hold up long term. But, I took a hot shower outside, everything works as it should, and this is badass Spoiler
I don’t know. He strikes me as the kind of guy that has his wife cut the grass because he doesn’t like being outside. Chances are he isn’t cutting limbs like you posted
I am so fed up with ATT, I am ditching U-verse, cutting the cord and kicking their shitty internet router and switching to Comcast. Comcast has 1200 mb in my area. I also haven’t been thrilled with my Orbi (might be because ATT Fiber is so fucking difficult and buggy) too. What is the best router out there? Should I try and use the Orbi as a dedicated router first?
interesting. That sucks. I have been very pleased with "ATT 1000" or whatever they call the fiber service. Only gripe is that I cannot swap out the router. Only the ones they provide are compatible.
This is what I have. I live in a small block house not wired for ethernet. The wifi sucks. I run an Orbi in some pass thru mode in order to get consistent wifi on the other side of my house. Their routers suck. I am willing to give Comcast a shot.
There are grasses that grow in shade. As well as landscaping plants. Don't cut down those fucking trees
Opened up a wall yesterday to replace some drywall and trim from old water damage and found this mess. Can’t say I’ve ever seen a black stud before.
