Came home from vacation to find a sizeable tree limb had fallen on my house. It's actually caught between my roof and the power line that runs between the pole and my house. This line is supported by a steel cable which is what truly caught the limb or else it would've absolutely ripped it from my house. My question is do I need to be worried about getting it down myself since it's on a power line and also my house? I'm sure this is a stupid question but electricity intimidates the shit out of me and I don't want to die today if I can avoid it. So think long and hard about your answer before you cause me to get electrocuted, please.

Think I saw a video on TikTok titled ‘instant death’ that showed a bird finding out about power lines. If the tree limb were sitting on top of a black mamba or hippo or something as volatile and dangerous as that would you try to handle it yourself?

I've already called the power company. Just not sure what their response time is going to be and it's hanging right above our back door. Worried about my dog more than anything else TBQH and it's supposed to be windy all day. Poor gal will have to stay inside I guess.

My power company came out last week and cleared all the limbs near my power line without any question. I’d expect the same for you.

Update: They came and had it down within an hour and a half. Guy said I would've been fine to do it so long as I didn't grab the wire or something but told me I was smart to just call them instead.

In the past 2 years I have become increasingly annoyed by things such as lights left on, doors being left open, and thermostat being adjusted. It's only a matter of time before I'm chasing kids off my lawn with a broom.

All our inspections came back good with the exception of smaller items that the seller agreed to address. We were worried given the age of the home but apparently it was built like Fort Knox. Now we are waiting on the appraisal to come back and final approval from the lender. It's starting to feel real now.

Can't wait to hang dong in my pool.

This week's episode of ned's old house has identifed fascia rot, the need to run a dedicated circuit to the kitchen, and an interior hot water heater that doesn't have an exterior drain line. This place is gonna be awesome for the next guy once I'm foreclosed upon

this make sense to anyone else?

So recently bought house originally had State Farm for our insurance, paid for through escrow. SF cancels us because they forgot house was in forest. Get new insurance, pay for it out of pocket. Call mortgage company, they say they need the declaration page for the policy AND a bill for July 1, 2022-June 30, 2023 and that our escrow will stay the same. Shouldn't our escrow for insurance payments this year go away, meaning having lower monthly payments, because I paid off part of what they were escrowing for?

A couple months ago PG&E sent me a notice that I needed to get some branches trimmed from around the power line going from the street to my house. So I had some woodbutchers who were doing some other tree work up the street do the trimming for a little chunk of cash, no big deal, problem solved. Two weeks ago my contractor was out to look at the water heater and we talked a bit about putting in a car charger at the front of the garage space yada yada, whether we would need to bring in more power to the house (everything in the neighborhood is 100 amps) and I asked who would be doing what work. Contractor said he does everything from the house in, and PG&E does everything up to the house. I told him about the tree branch issue, and that they said I was responsible for the branches interfering with the line to the street, and he laughed and told me that they were just trying to get me to do their work for them.

He's coming by Friday to replace my water heater for $1650

You paid for a full year of coverage up front starting on the day you closed the loan. All monthly payments going forward will sit in the escrow account until year 2 of your insurance policy is due (which is probably a year after you purchased). Upon which the lender will pay for the entirety of year two's coverage all at once again. Does that make sense and answer your question?

This makes me thankful in both homes I’ve owned all electricity has been ran underground with no overhead wires. I remember having to deal with that stuff from our pecan trees to the house and apple/pines going to the barn/well house.

They're pretty good about keeping the lines on the street clear, and I only got played for a bit. The tree crew offered to do it for free since it was about three minutes of work and they were already getting paid by somebody else, but I insisted on spreading out some of that sweet PPP money and they seemed pretty appreciative about it

He made it a point to acknowledge that it's a low voltage wire and also insulated so the only way it's going to electrocute me is if the insulation is messed up somewhere and I happen to touch that. He said the real danger is getting up on the roof or a ladder and trying to deal with it while also avoiding doing any damage to the wire. And then he emphasized again that there's no sense in trying it myself when they can do it much easier and safer.

In his defense, I asked him about all of this. He wasn't providing all of this information or the advice without my needless inquiry.

Anyone try to clean their evaporator coil? System is old and working inefficiently (we're due to replace soon) but I'm kind of hoping to get through to the fall. I stay on top of filters and keeping the condenser coil clean but have a feeling the evap coil is a mess.

So just called them back bc they suck and never called me. Was just told that the Condo Assoc. Fee was actually paid to Villas of Orlando, first person tried to tell me that was my flood insurance. I was like so you think my flood insurance is double my homeowners? I don't live in a flood plain. In fact I live on a small lake that has a spillway that goes to lower part of neighborhood, probably 20 foot drop. And you think Villas of Orlando sounds like an insurance company? After about an hour on the phone finally got to someone that wasn't a dumbass that would listen to me. Was paid to condo, condo paid it back 3 months later. Updating new payment hopefully before August payment is due. Really sucks you have no say in who buys your mortgage. Fuck whoever BSI is

I have cleaned coils. Many variables with difficulty, mostly pending on location and orientation of unit/coil plenum. Mine was as simple as pulling the entire coil out (while having something for it to sit on without kinking the lines (would be v bad), shop vac and a healthy application of coil cleaner. Long story short, gain access and see what the upstream side of the coil looks like before deciding to remove/clean.

I've watched quite a few videos and I'm hoping to be able to work on it without having to remove it. If it looks like I have to pull it, I'll probably bite the bullet and pay someone.

It definitely sucks. Just have to find yourself a mortgage lender that services their own loans next time.

Guess who’s about to spend 30k on new windows and trim, siding on one wall, and framing out a covered patio to turn into a mud room. Haven’t even touched anything inside the house yet.
