I would avoid one that uses wifi over a different protocol like zigbee if it was me. My current house has a wifi lock and it goes through batteries faster than the zigbee lock I had at a previous house.

I've always been team schlage, but I've only used the non wifi keypads (battery longevity, mainly). I've read that kwiksets are supposed to be easier to defeat, but that could be reddit nonsense

If you’ve ever watched any of the Lockpicking Lawyer’s YouTube videos you’ll find that basically any dead bolt lock will not keep out someone who wants to get in. I wouldn’t base my purchase decision on that.

Had a House inspection by my real estate who look after the rent here last year.
Expecting another one in March this year.
Always 3 months after you move into a place you get notified that your rental needs to be inspected.

I have a defiant lock on my front door, and I think the difference on having the hub vs ones that don't have the hub is battery life.

I've not changed the batteries in the door lock in almost 2 years since install, and its our primary entry door
while our schlage hub less key pads at my work warehouse need new batteries every couple of months

    Actually probably not.
My home keypad is getting locked and unlocked atleast two or three times every morning and again the same every evening.
Work keypads are on our warehouse facility that honestly get unlocked and locked on average once a day at most.

Does it work with alexa? I see the hubspace skill with pretty terrible reviews

If I had to guess, that is just a simple mechanism to help pop the remote out of the socket. It looks like it is held in place by little groove and clip. Once you undo the clip at top, the spring pushes against the piece and it pops out ever so slightly at the top so you can grab it and remove it.

Either that or you just initiated the self destruct mode on your house. Hoping for your sake it is the former but for the sake of content for the rest of us it is the latter.

Well, I didn't recognize that app name as my lock app
So I went and looked. Turns out my door lock is a Hornbill brand. So all positive things I said about defiant should be applied to hornbill lol

I have a Schlage Camelot. It has a keypad and can take a key if the battery dies. I’ve had it for over a year and only replaced the AA batteries once. Works off of wifi, so no hub is needed, and it works with Alexa. The WiFi aspect is nice because I can program temporary codes to let others in or just unlock/lock from my phone. it also provides notifications whenever it is locked/unlocked. No complaints from me other than it was expensive.

I had a Google/Nest deadbolt on my front door. I wouldn't recommend it to anybody. It was way too glitchy for something you desperately need to always work. It only locked/unlocked from the app a few times before that function completely quit working. Then the keypad would sometimes simply not work. I can't explain it but sometimes you just couldn't fucking get in, and I would have to walk around to the back door with a real key. We got it a few months before we listed the house otherwise I would have replaced it. Made it someone else's problem.

Awesome, our water pressure tank is now leaking from the little air valve. The rubber seal between it and the tank is somehow no longer tight. Could probably solve the leak with some duct tape!

Have to shut the water off. Guessing the plumbers are swamped now, too, because it's been raining for 3 days straight.

If the alignment isnt damn near perfect it will fuck up any wifi lock. That’s typically the culprit with it not locking/not recognizing that it’s locked.

This little fucker. Guess it could possibly be leaking from the valve, not the seal. Nice steady stream when the tank is powered, near where the arrow is, between the seal/valve.

I was able to squeeze it and rotate it some, and it stopped for 5-10 minutes, then it got worse and I couldn't stop it.

    So short story long...
Wife and I moved back to SC from Wesley Chapel Florida in August of 2017. We had a 53 acre parcel in the country picked out but she had to have the top school district so we got a 1/4 acre on a local lake in town. Older home and way bigger than we needed, but she was happy. 2 years later same property was still for sale and she gave me the green light to start selling our home.
We did around 3k of remodel, but it wasn't happening in 2019. We made the plan to list again summer of 2020. Ended up closing July 4th weekend. Purchased land for 2400 an acre (farmland, woods, and pond). Met with a builder and came up with all the house we wanted (1700sq ft) for 165k approximately.
We held off because of wanting to pay down debt. Rented a double wide from a buddy in the meantime for cheap. Covid hits and we to regroup in November of 2021. Same house is now 350k and builder doesn't work in that part of the county any longer.
Regroup to house plan #2(smaller). Takes until July of 2022 to find a builder, interest rates are 4.2%. We buy a camper and move on property, installing well, septic, power, etc. Bid price $268k at 8% interest.
Regroup to house plan #3 987 sq ft. Interest rate is now 6.3%, but we can no longer include land loan and house payment in same mortgage due to differing interest rates (land is at 4.75% for 20 years) so we can't build due to pretty much 2 mortgage payment. Camper life 4 life it is for us!

/tldr fuck the world and it's money roller coaster.

Did about $2k reno on camper. Tore the entire back end off due to water damage and rebuilt. Shop was free and have it insulated now with AC/heat, washer/dryer, storage and tools. Pumphouse, while looks amateur hour, was built completely from scraps and completed by an amateur.

We got a new tank. Old one was/is still in place just bc the way the pump and plumbing was installed. I am not 100% sure how it was rigged up, but both tanks must have been somewhat in use. They just came and completely bypassed the old.

Before they came, there was more piping coming from the old unit, that we used to drain the pump.

    Shit is old lol

I have the Nest X Yale Lock from Google, and have had 0 problems. But Google's support of it's smart home lock, security/sensors, and accessories is so bad that I wouldn't recommend anyone invest seriously in it.

Even there Cameras hardware themselves are so/so, when you factor in price.

Side note but, I bought front loading washer and dryers in 2014 and I have never used any of the cleaning pods, and I have not had (knock on wood) any issues with odors or mold. We leave the doors either wide open or cracked open most of the time. We have had a couple times where we forgot to open and the clothes sat over night. We just ran the machine again and its been fine.

I know they get a ton of flack, but so far mine have been fairly easy to operate and they use less water than most top loading.

It probably depends on the signal strength but I concur.

I have a Zigbee lock and its on my SmartThings network with a couple other zigbee devices somewhat close and I replace the batteries about every 18 months or so. It doesn't chew up batteries like I expected.

Is the shrader valve welded or threaded to the tank? ( The connection under the rubber cover at the tank)
If it’s threaded you can replace or reinstall with plumbers tape.
