Your tv likely has a max input speed through Ethernet or WiFi. Mine is capped at 100 mbps hardwired but it gets faster through WiFi. One of the mesh pucks is near the tv, so it just goes WiFi since it’s usually greater than 400 mbps when speed testing it. edit; better tech answer above
100 Mbps is plenty for streaming tbh, there’s a lot of other factors that go into network performance than pure bandwidth so folks shouldn’t hyper focus on “big number better”.
The water pressure in my shower is low. I was thinking it was a valve, but it seems like the pressure in the two sink faucets in the same bathroom are also low. The faucet in the tub is fine, as is every other faucet in the house. Can a shower valve disrupt nearby faucets, or am I looking at something else? Plumber's coming tomorrow... just wanted to prepare my butthole
I was considering looking up a handy man of sorts to fix my damn door hinge Then I said wait, am I even a man? I cracked open a beer, grabbed some toothpicks, and fixed it myself. Toothpicks fixed it.
I had a squeaky door one time and I had zero WD40 on hand. So I used sun tan oil spray. Worked like a charm.
I use that on all my hinges, as an added bonus doing this has gotten our monthly candle expense cut in half to only $1800
I have an issue. I want a deck off my master bedroom. But, only to fully take advantage of the views. All of the views are directly Southeast, or bottom right, of the house's location, hence putting the footprint at an angle: Spoiler Here's the first iteration: Spoiler Said I want the perspective flipped, but it didn't come out much better with orientation/sun/etc: Spoiler As it is either way, it's just this dead shadow area. We're talking about having an external deck, like not over the main living space, and just have an external deck, I just am having trouble orientating the deck to be the proper size, get a lot of sun, and face Southeast
Picking out finishes for this house(s) is exhausting. Finally bit the bullet and hired an interior designer. My wife keeps asking my opinion and then gets mad when I tell her that’s why we hired someone.
Interior designer feels like it's a lot like house cleaner. 99% of the time the homeowner really does most of the work
I assume it’s the wife overruling the designer and ending up where they would have anyways without one.
Especially in modern days I can see a time where they might show people neighborhoods they didn't know about, and maybe homes the prospects couldn't have just come across as for sale. But now days it feels like you want a house, you find it online, research the neighborhood, schools etc, then call your realtor to open the door for you to look inside the home in person.
4 days That's how long it takes to fix the gawd damn water to the fridge. Found it leaking on Tuesday evening, it looks like it's leaking from a where I ran a new line to the old line. (This is all in the basement/garage) Shut the water off, cut out the piece thats leaking. Wednesday, on the way home from work I stop in at Lowes and grab the new one Get home, put it in, turn on the water, fucking thing is leaking still. Went to go try and tighten the fitting and it breaks the line where it goes into the fitting. It's a compression fitting, so once it's compressed its done Thursday, stop at home depot. Buy 3 of the same fitting I bought the day before, plus two 'push in' fittings (which i don't trust, but figured why not at this point), and i also went ahead and bought a 25' long piece of hose. Get home last night about 9pm. Put one of the push on fittings on, turn on water and guess what? It's leaking from another spot higher up the hose, behind the sheet rock ceiling in the garage. Fuck it, I grab the exposed edge of sheetrock and break it off with my hands to see two spots just spraying away up there. Went to try and pull the hose, but it ain't budging from behind the sheet rock with too many bends I guess Decide to call it a night Friday, this morning I went and tried to fish the old line out, hoping to push the new one in with it, no luck it's either attached to something or just stuck in a board. Grab the jig saw and start going at the sheet rock ceiling in the garage. Surprisingly went real easy, from there. Cut a 3 inch wide or so trench out of the sheet rock to where the line turned up. Pulled all the old line out, ran new line from fridge to valve, buttoned it up and no leaks Probably gunna put a board or something over the cut in the sheet rock for easy access in the future, it's an unfinished garage anyways
I was very anti interior designer until I realized they’re just a mediator to keep marriages alive and now I appreciate their work
I’ve just completely given up on having opinions on anything interior design related in our house the good news is that even when I let her pick whatever she wants I still get yelled at for not liking her selections enough sorry for being honest when you ask me if I like shit
i'll use at least a furniture store's "complimentary design bla bla" whatever the fuck the title is up to the point i get a grid printout with recommendations for furniture dimensions. then it's off to wayfair b/c fuck spending $1000 on a rug.
The interior designer has been helpful but I just don’t give a shit what shade of white paint is or how the counters pull aqua colors from the wall. Make a decision without me.
Agreed, I’ve told my wife paint the walls whatever color you want, just don’t get any paint on the trim.
Is that door under your primary suite (as you can tell I’m anti-slavery) the main entrance? If you’re really try to enjoy the view, a wrap around deck on the second floor that extends over that covered area seem the most obvious solution. Though, I understand that may not be the aesthetically pleasing above a main entrance.
So…to potentially trigger resident tv location protocol administrator (I believe it was aptos) we are about to us our mantle mount 700 series rated for a 90” < 115 lbs to mount our soon to be delivered 98QM851G at 147lbs. my father in law is a master carpenter and his opinion is that the weight limitation is likely for the hydraulic. We leave it in the down position 99% of the time so we’re going to give it a whirl. hoping for the best but preparing for tears.
Think he’s got one of those over-the-mantle tv mounts that can swing out and down in front of the fireplace and he’s gonna overload it
Working theory is that the steel of the frame can hold the weight plus more but the hydraulic assist is what the 115 is referring to. Will be bolted directly on studs with a few dry wall anchors for backups. Definitely still iffy but the only larger mantle mount is > 2k$. not the best plan we’ve ever had but yolo or whatever.
If you are straight to studs it at least shouldn't fall off the wall. Edit: but with a 3k TV I don't know if I would cheap out on the mount.
I mean a realistic theory is that there is a factor of safety figured in here. But I think if it weren't my 3 thousand dollars, i would make sure the manufacturer of the mount didn't have an immediate reason to tell me I over loaded their stuff
