its hard to tell what we are looking at, can you take some pictures from a bit further away so we can see what this wall is
Base of Wall. It’s the only exterior side, but not isolated to any one area along the entire length (20 feet or so)
We call that spalling. Lots of reasons that it can happen. Salt, heat, freeze/thaw, expanding reinforcement, not enough air entrainment, bad mix etc. Depending on the cause and location, it can be tough to fix, as anything rigid (concrete, epoxy) will just crack off when the substrate loosens. Maybe a latex based filler/sealer? Something that will firm up enough to paint, but be flexible as needed.
funshot is right, looks like spalling you can go along with a hammer and try and chip off everything loose then try and seal it up. it may chip some more though. whats it look like on the outside of that wall? Im guessing there is a brick lug or something so you may not be able to see it out there. I wonder if you could get a black rubber stair tread to match that rubber base that you could trim to fit and cover it up how old is the concrete?
ok good, eliminates my one concern that there might have been a big slab there or something locking in up against it that was making it expand and contract differently than the garage floor
This is what I’d do. I’m not saying that turning a blind eye to what could be a failing foundation is what the experts typically recommend, I’m just saying it seems less stressful and cheaper to hide it from myself. Also, I don’t know it’s a failing foundation, but I can’t say it’s not a failing foundation either.
Supposed to get close to 90* on Monday. Cleaned the condenser and changed my air filter a few days early (I usually do it at quarter end). It's always satisfying to watch the dirty water run down the fins.
Got shit on pretty hard when I posted I was buying this all in one unit a year ago but a year later and we absolutely love it. Have had zero issues with the size of the unit and we are a family of four that does laundry every single day. Not having to switch the laundry is the best. If you need to go stackable I would definitely think about just going with this unit instead. https://www.homedepot.com/p/GE-Prof...ss-Heat-Pump-Technology-PFQ97HSPVDS/324668085
I still stand by the point that all in ones aren’t great. I’m sure there will be some cowards that won’t, but I’m a man of integrity.
I'm moving to a smaller town after living in a large metro for the last 10 years. My old place was a condo I bought in a large building in the middle of downtown and I could walk everywhere. I loved it and there's really nothing like that in the new city and it makes me sad.
Just got new roof, new gutters, some new trim, and fence re-stained via insurance 2 weeks ago and of course this happens today.
I won’t know until my guy comes back and inspects it. Need to look over the 3 vehicles tomorrow as well. I know the bed cover on the Tacoma got damaged, just don’t know about the metal.
This and closets are some of the more sneaky expensive things you can do. Just got quoted $12K to do the wife's closet. Fuck that.
This is me in reverse. Just moved back to Denver and live right next to Union Station and am in love again.
For those of you who have done relatively minor renovations/additions, about how much did you pay an architect? ButchCassidy
Did they quote you a % of job cost, or a lump sum/hourly rate that ended up being 5% of the total project cost? I would stay away from the former, as they have no incentive to spec cost effective design/products.
No clue about that. Think our basement reno was like $40k designed by the company who completed the work Same with kitchen dunno if there’s a line item on our invoice. Dunno where the invoice is, lol Glad I could help!
i'm glad my wife is as cheap as I am because we basically created a built in closet by measuring and doing Ikea's 3d planner. looks great and pennies comparatively. did have to saw some brackets off to get everything to fit perfect but small price
If I leave my garage open for more than 10 minutes birds have been flying in and making nests in my shoes. I usually leave my garage open all day so this has been a major inconvenience. Not to mention I've been having to clean out my shoes numerous times a day.
I have the same problem this time of if year with birds trying to make nests in my garage. And yeah I have to keep the door closed because of it. The best is when a bird gets caught above my garage door and can't figure out how to get out. I stand and berate the bird about how dumb he is when this happens
I’ve talked about this in here before but I tried everything on the side access door that has an overhang. If you coil a rope or like a bungee cord with a pattern that’s thick enough by your shoes it will scare them off because they think it’s a snake. The fucking birds used to make a mud nest on the wall right below the overhang. Coiled a bungee around the outside light loosely and have not had them return for years at this point.
I believe I've found a solution more befitting a sophisticated internet man as yourself: a singing bird shoehorn https://www.wayfair.com/outdoor/pdp...ging-cardinal-standing-on-stump-gpdg1494.html
