Removing sod fucking sucks right? I would have rented a sod cutter but im on an incline and its pretty dangerous use that machine on a hill. I planted two Japanese Maples, a Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood' and a Acer palmatum 'Emerald Lace'. I got them for a crazy good deal from a wholesale nursery I'll take some pictures this evening
Its a fucking workout for sure. I would much rather dig holes over ripping up sod. Fuck, that shit sucked.
I also am planting some lavender and lupine flowers and needed to have holes dig for those. So I #lifehacked and used my marking spray paint to mark where I wanted the holes dug and then gave my 2 year old a mini shovel and told him to dig where the orange paint was. Worked like a charm. And most importantly, he was out of my way while I was planting trees.
I have no children so I bought an auger that attaches to my drill for a little less than the cost of day care
Sellers accepted our offer tonight. 219k below original list. Really looking forward to having a yard to obsess over after living in a condo for so long.
RE locks, we have Kwikset. I like them since you can rekey it so easily. Batteries on the front door (keypad) lock last about 6 months; obviously not a smart lock. The second link is the one for our shed, which is unkeyed (which made me suspicious), but if it ever dies, you pop the cover and just put a 9v on it and it works. Spoiler Kwikset 909, now discontinued, keypad but no wifi Kwikset 905, was under $40: https://www.kwikset.com/products/detail/905-keywayless-electronic-deadbolt
Don’t get the Schlage one that I posted a few pages back, its fucking terrible. I ended up tearing mine apart and reworked the spring that spins to lift the mechanism (dumb af design) and it works a little better. Still pisses me off more than it should though.
Anyone have a pressure washer they like? Going to be using it to pressure wash my deck before I stain it. I would prefer electric over gas.
I've got a ryobi one that I keep expecting to just not work the next time I break it out, but sure enough it keeps on trucking
It's the only ryobi thing I own and it was free. Like i said, I fully expect it to just not work next time I use it, but it hasn't done it yet
If you're looking for cheap, this fits the bill. I bought it for like 90 bucks all in for car washing. It works pretty well still after two years but I admittedly don't ask much of it. https://www.vevor.com/pressure-wash...5huRfnx07k4QTEZhYei84gQd89NhNFdMaAqKYEALw_wcB
I got a Westinghouse one from Menards that was fairly inexpensive last summer that works really well.
its a good homeowner grade product now days. 15 years ago they werent so good and would die pretty quickly, but their batteries are much better than they were and they will work for most homeowner use. Just dont let a pro see you using them on a job site, they will make fun of you
If the Greenworks one is cheap on Amazon (I think they have a fire sale now), I'd buy it. I got the 1st edition about a decade ago. Wand was recalled (even though mine was fine), got a second wand. I don't use it a lot, but it's been solid. I think it was like $70. Substantial enough for a deck, but can also do patios, etc., just have to take your time.
I've had a Karcher K5 Premium for five years and it works very well. Neighbors and family frequently borrow it too I do my ipe decks twice a year and the concrete from time to time and I have no clue about the warranty
Only given 9 business days to get all inspections done. General, termite, hvac, well, radon, and plumbing. It’s an older home so I told them to do everything
Neighbor just asked if I have extra room in my trash can for him to put a “full 55 gallon contractor bag”
Accepted an all cash offer on our condo yesterday after two days with the only revision being that we’ll pay nothing for any repairs and they readily agreed to that. Pretty happy with it. I was anxious on having a lot of showings while we still lived in it and the first person to look at it bought it. Now to find a good mower and grill.
Thought we were free and clear, but they went to pump the septic tank today and it is cracked. Anyone have an idea of what it costs just to replace a tank? Everywhere online I am seeing is like the full set up cost.
