My house is two story, 2900 SF and my router is in a cabinet in a central area on the first floor. It's a Comcast router and I have no issues with connectivity anywhere in the house. I actually had the Comcast router running to a more powerful router but I got better results when I took that router out of the chain and just used the Comcast router.
Got to the point yesterday where my realtor just called and said ok some more offers are coming in but I'm just gonna wait to tell you. Set a deadline of noon today and will pick the best one then
My house is pretty spread out and my router is one corner of the house. I bought a wifi extender and it solved everything. It's got great coverage. I'd recommend one if you are in a similar boat.
Yeah, I have a Powerline in the current place and it serves the purpose. Only frustrating when I can't quickly manage Sonos because my phone is on that network and Sonos is on the other.
cheap from ikea. used them at the wedding to hold up table assignments for everybody, then my wife repurposed them into the entryway and changes what's up there based on the seasons. also puts xmas cards up there so we don't have them on our stainless fridge which can rust from magnets.
I have two wireless access points at each end of my house tied into the main router with cat6 I ran through the attic but I'm a huge dork
Great job. Pretty sure you posted pictures when you got the house a few years ago and it looked like a grandma house.
Fixed a leaky faucet by myself this week for $15 in parts. Will again endorse this book to know how to do basic repairs yourself:
How much have you put into it so far? Construction loan closed last Wednesday, funded today. Trees are down and hauled away. GC coming tomorrow for final measurements and string off the addition. Hard to believe something I've been working on for nearly 8 months is starting to prove progress.
Believe they make all in one's nowadays, I'm replacing the vent fan in my bathroom and want to add a light/vent combo.
My specific concerns are compatability with my current set up. Is the wiring/electrical and the vent itself generally compatible/interchangeable with a fan/vent and a heater?
depends on how its switched as long as its a 120v replacing a 120v unit you are good there, im just not sure how the on off would work w with an added function and existing switch
Not sure what size of heater you'd want to put in, but typically even a small room heater will pull 12-15 amps. You'll run the risk of tripping the breaker a lot unless you have a homerun line from your panel that isn't supporting anything else.
The square in the ceiling that the fan/vent is located in is about 6"x6" so it would be pretty small. Is the fan/vent likely running on much less amperage?
It's rained a good amount the last few days, and I've noticed our whole house now smells musty like a wet towel was left sitting around. Should I be concerned about mold growing somewhere? Worth calling someone to check it out?
Pier and beam. Crawl space is ridiculously tight and not a place I wander around though. Is that where it's probably coming from?
it is definitely a possibility. I had some ground settle lower than the brick skirt and water would sit under my house and I had the same smell. a little dirt moving on the exterior and problem solved. i would plan a trip under your house this weekend to check it out. good news is the issue is corrected on the perimeter of the house, you will just need to go under to check and see if that is indeed the problem.
If I don't post again after this weekend, you will know I probably died under there due to multiple attacks by whatever creatures I find. Wish me luck.
Any chance it's the AC? I had this issue two weeks ago and a little bleach down the condensate drain line cleared the whole thing up.
Here's the backsplash I just finished. First time ever messing with tile of any sort, wasn't bad and didn't turn out too bad if I do say so myself. Below and above the window was a bitch though. Hopefully new counter tops sometime later this year.
It happened right after a bunch of rain, so I was thinking it was probably involving rainwater in some way. I'll definitely check that though, as I saw someone mention that on here a few weeks back and put it on my to-do list.
and make sure your wife/girlfriend/boyfriend/lover/whatever knows you are under there so you don't get lechnerd 'd
Paver front patio is underway. Existing plants were all ripped out and the pavers are being delivered tomorrow. ItsHappening.gif.
