I currently have a 2200 sq ft 4 bed/3 bath house. Thinking about selling it and getting an 800 sq ft 1 bed/1 bath condo and paying straight cash homie. Get rid of the mortgage payment and move into a space more reasonable for a single person.
I think you need at least like 1000. It ends up seriously shrinking some aspect of your house at 800 making at least one room uncomfortable
Yeah here are some 2/2 in the same complex I may check out too that are around 1100 sqft. Would be stretching my goal of paying all cash though.

Ubiquiti is the way to go IMO. Requires a bit more work up front but in 6-8 years you'll still be better than the latest in home router and extension on the market with significantly better coverage.
Commercial grade wireless scaled down for the consumer so it's affordable. If you're into home automation and or complete coverage of your house/property it's the way to go.
800 isnt that small for a single person IMO but I guess going from 2000+ to that would require him to sell a bunch of stuff

even if you have to take out a very small loan, you can probably get rid of it relatively quickly. Make sure you get what you actually need and don't force yourself into something too small or you'll be doing this song and dance a year from now. With budgeting and throwing all extra money at it, you could get rid of the 'mortgage' by a year.
Yeah I thought about that too. Currently owe ~170k on my house. Comps are in the 340k range. The condos that are 2/2 ~1100 sqft where I’m looking are in the 165k range. So max I’d probably need a 20k loan which I could pay off in 12-18 months.

For me it is. The cost is significant but if you are ok with that it’s cool. I hook mine up to my Amazon Show and then if I’m in the kitchen or living room and the doorbell rings I can say “Alexa show front door” and it pops up on the screen so I can see who’s there without getting up. Unfortunately you can’t speak through the show but you can through your phone. You can setup simple or complex zones where you want to be notified of any motion. I’ve paired my ring pro with a solar powered ring stick up cam so I’ve got good visualization of the entire front of my house. And I pay the $3/month to store all the video on their cloud. I know most would-be criminals of my Amazon packages will think twice when they see the ring doorbell, camera and Ring signage I have up. They can still take my package but there are easier targets where they won’t be videotaped. Open if you want to cringe: Spoiler Ive also coordinated my Lifx bulbs to flash blue twice if my ring doorbell rings.

mini works on its own. would be a great gift someone could keep in their kitchen or office google home speaker much more powerful tho (have a home and 3 minis)
