Obviously region specific, but I would expect to pay $3,500-$5,000 for that service where I live (TX).
Hard Pass. I took down wall paper and painted the kitchen in our old house and that was enough for me. Gracias
Does anyone happen to have this samsung fridge or one like it? We liked it in store but can't find many reviews on it. https://www.costco.com/Samsung-28Cu...ur4xEp30rVaKAjSOV19+viK7jdZS+OGsi5Ry03xb75frj
The top half of mine is the same, but I’ve got the standard stacked flex/freezer drawers on the bottom. No issues so far. Samsung seems to make a good product. Just be ready to pay $50 about every 6 months for a new water filter.
Speaking of filters, does any one else ignore the change filter notification the first time? It feels to me like they just want to sell more filters. So I usually ignore it once and change it the second time it pops up.
This is my move. I also bought a 3-pack of filters on amazon to save about $10 each. Just don’t lose them.
i'm thinking about buying a house. how did y'all go about determining how much you wanted to afford, would you do it that way again?
Buying one now . They have to build it . Probably finished in July . You can plug numbers into a mortgage calculator. Or eat shit and buy your wife’s dream house .
This is a loaded question, but I'll stab. Do not go with what the bank says you can afford. So many vairiables but determine what you need which is really kind of hard to do until you've lived it. There's nothing wrong with equity and starting small until you know what you want or need to grow into. There are literally thousands of variables but you need priorities first.
For me it was finding what I was comfortable withspending each month. I not only looked at the mortgage, but also any fixed expenses (gas, electricity, cable, etc). Once I figured that out, I was able to back into my desired price range.
Just received the ring doorbell 2. Can’t wait to set it up tomorrow. Also, we just ordered a bed for the guest room. Got it like $500 off. If it’s as comfortable as it looks I may have to put it in our room instead
I saw Nest was coming out with a doorbell in a couple months, I'm not sure how it compares at all to the ring and others - but I may get once some reviews roll out. It would be nice to set up an IFTTT with my Lifx bulbs and nest cams lechnerd teach me your ways.
The filter shouldn't be more than$30-40, can get on Amazon or from the same company that sells them out of nc
Love our Ring except how it keeps scanning cars that drive by every now and then. We have it on the closest to the door setting, and it misses most, but if a car drives by at 3 am after hours of silence it will grab it.
What's the best cordless tool platform? I need to replace my old Craftsman drill, need a new sander, and a few other things. Got my eye on the Dewalt 20v Max tools at the moment but I know Milwaukee and others are decent as well.
Use Milwaukee for work, and Makita for home. Toolbarn.com has a "build your own kit" feature where you can assemble a custom package for yourself. Look into batteries (from any brand) with an amp/hour rating of 3 or greater. Milwaukee offers batteries up to 9 amp/hours, which will last all day, even in professional usage. That capacity is overkill for a homeowner, probably, but 3-5 ah means you don't have to constantly charge them.
I just dropped more cash than I'm willing to admit to upgrade to Nests new security system. It is fresh tho
If you’ve already downloaded IFTTT you can search nest cam Lifx and one of the first applets will be: You can change light color, location and other parameters within the applet. I use a ring/Lifx code that immediately turns on my porch and front indoor lights when motion is detected, then slowly fades off over 5 minutes. It’s pretty sharp and especially nice when you arrive home after dark. The ring doorbell pro let’s you draw very precise motion zones. Something to look into.
Nest really is going to have to pivot on their thermostat line and create a more universally adaptable product. The major carriers are creating their new AC/furnace units using proprietary technology/wiring making it very difficult to use outside thermostats. I have a new carrier infinity unit and have been able to use nest for some simple functions but can’t utilize all the features secondary to compatibility issues. I imagine this is going to be a long running cat and mouse game between the two sides.
I think Nest is going to die as a result. Had they been all over IoT years ago they could have bought everything up and killed it.
I don't see how Nest or Ecobee have any leverage here other than existing market share and customer goodwill. Seeing the natural progression of so many other industries where every fucking company shoves their own closed system down their throat that you can only access with their fucking app. Not really. Nest doesn't manufacture HVAC systems so companies moving from a simple hard-wired control system to proprietary system is completely out of their control. If Carrier doesn't allow third parties to loop into their new control systems then Nest is out of luck. Doesn't have anything to do with "IoT".
Nest is going to do more business in 2018 in security then they will in thermostats. By next year, it will only be a small part of their market offering.
Had no idea they did security or were big in that. I have a proprietary system which I regret now because and going to rip and replace with Ubiquiti in the next year or so for consolidation purposes.
Can you potentially request for the person/company that did the house inspection to pay for that since it definitely should have been caught during inspection?
We don't have the 4 door. We have the French door with beverage drawer then bottom freezer drawer. The ice maker blows. Worked normally for first 10 months. Bought the extended warranty from Best Buy. Had to have someone come out about 4 times. Trying to get them to replace the fridge with a new one. Borderline impossible. I haven't had time to deal with it properly however. I won't be buying a Samsung for my next fridge fwiw.
Going to buy a new dishwasher in the next month or two. Any suggestions or one to stay away from? I figure most dishwashers are pretty much the same
How do you like it? I’ve been looking at getting it bc it fits what I’m looking for, but was waiting for some reviews to come in
Agree, but on the other hand it seems like it would've been easier for a manufacturer to buy them out and then lease/resell instead of building their own.
Google (Alphabet) bought Nest nearly four years ago for $3.2 billion. Know any HVAC companies with that kind of extra cash?
I went to a Ron White comedy show recently and he talks about how he has a toilet in his home like this. Talks about how the seat going up as he approaches. The only drawback to this feature is he expects every toilet everywhere to do this and will just piss on the seat if it doesn’t open on its own.
anyone used one of those steam cleaners to clean grout? the grout in the house we're about to buy definitely needs to be cleaned and i think renting one of those heavy duty ones from home depot should be easy enough
Other option would be to get someone to professionally clean it. We had them clean the grout when they refinished some wall tile. I think they used an acid solution. We may have gotten a deal because they were already out there but it was less than $100.
