Is that a floor layout done in Excel? Truly a man after my own heart fyi - If you start joining together rectangles into groups to make to scale furniture shapes and such you might have a problem
It looks like a lot of money to make it slightly better and a pain in the ass to plumb it. I would just keep the current configuration and put in a shower where the tub is located. I have done that at it made a master bath in a condo look much better. Retile the floor and put in a new vanity, mirrors, fixtures, etc. I say all that looking and no pictures of current bathroom and just some blocks of the proposed design.
Lol yeah it’s not the best. The problem is the shower/tub as drawn is super narrow and would make bathroom secs quite difficult. If I dig up the plumbing (in the slab) I’ll just murder it all since it’s only like 100 sq ft. I don’t think the plumbing will be all that difficult. We are debating between a layout change and just a complete cosmetic gut. I just hate the layout. I understand it will never be a 20x20 bathroom but I think it could be more workable.
This is a post I made back in November of last year. I'm still of the same mindset (wait and see mode). I think there will be a lot of movement in the next couple of years on this front so best to wait at this point.
Are you living here long term? If you are looking to sell what are the comps and how much are you putting in the bath? The layout clearly sucks, but if you are going to sell do the cosmetic and live with it until you sell it. If you are living there longer-term then a redo that makes the bath more functional for your needs might be the way to go. Depends on the scope of work, but to me demoing the entire bath, walls, floor including the slab, redoing the plumbing seems like taking a bite out of the apple that you will never get back, so you are doing it for you at that point.
I would probably try to put the new shower on the wall where the door to the master bath is. You can then use the plumbing from the current vanity for the shower and maybe not have to remove that part of the wall. Where the tub is, maybe put a double vanity on that wall...possibly between the windows so you can use the tub plumbing and have space for a full mirror. Still have some room on both sides for a small towel closet. Keep the existing entry by the toilet or possibly shift it left. We just built our home and once we had an idea how it might layout you should shop for the tub and shower door to make sure it’ll fit. Luckily we found it early enough and had to add a few inches to our bathroom in construction to make it work. Good luck.
My house is 2200 sq ft and I just painted the whole interior myself. Pay them whatever they quote you. It fucking sucks.
They are coming out tomorrow to take pictures of my house. Hitting the market on Thursday. Listing for $349,000. I paid $210,000 in September 2013.
We ended up getting 4 quotes, guy I liked the best was of course the highest, originally quoted us $5k, talked him down to $4k so I’m pretty happy with it.
Painting my 700 sq for bonus rooms right now by myself. Can’t wait to spend that money on something else.
These questions are typically an economy of scale. If the bathroom had unfinished space with easy access and no drain conflicts underneath it, no big deal. On a slab.....you are blowing through money before you ever get started with the "fun" part, and could potentially tear up that concrete and not be able to put the fixtures where you want. Shit doesn't flow uphill, after all. They do make maserator pumps, but that is more money, and they are relatively loud. I am not saying it can't be done, or that you shouldn't, but it is going to be expensive just to get the logistics right. Be prepared. In terms of ROI, it varies somewhat by region, but the best projects are kitchens, outdoor spaces, bathrooms, and finishing interior spaces (basements/attics/lofts), in that order, for us.
Roll. I’d probably hate it less if I sprayed, although I’d also have mask a little more throughly, which I also hate. And keeping the sprayer clean would also suck. Still not going to pay to paint interior stuff, I’ll do it and then come itt and complain.
i really need to paint the outside of my house and have free access to a good airless paint gun, yet i still am avoiding getting it done
Roller shades are the most popular item in the motorized window treatments industry. Yes, they are expensive, especially if you go higher end with a company that makes a quiet motor. Most companies, including Hunter Douglas, use somfy motors. They are generally louder motors, but they're made to fit an industry standard roller tube. Also, you may find other companies' motors don't fit those tubes.
Bought an LG refigerator 4.5 years ago. It has blown a compressor 3 times. The compressor is always under warranty, but I have to pay labor. So it blew again last week. LG wanted me to do the same process again and pay for labor. Decided I'm tired of dealing with their shit. We have nothing but Kitchen-aid appliances in the kitchen other than that LG fridge and have loved them, so I went big and got the Kitchen-aid fridge. ive never understood the french door fridge love. but thats also because i prefer my freezer isnt a mini deep freezer
Does anyone have a sonos playbase? Is the soundbar the way to go? I'm not trying to go super high end, but I definitely need a sound system in my living room. To the fridge comments... I have a detached garage where I put our old fridge after we replaced the one in the kitchen. It's 20+ years old and still no issues. It's a GE. I have a GE in the kitchen. I've yet to have a problem between the two of them. Not saying GE is the best, but they've been great for me.
This is why I want the french door freezer as well. My parents have the mini deep freezer and I hate it, but I'm also not a fan of the side by side.
So my samsung freezer is now at 60 degrees. I have the french model with the pull out temp controlled drawer. Both the drawer and the freezer are busted, but fridge is operational. Its out of warranty. Ideas?
When that happened to me four years ago, the line eventually unfroze and a rush of cold water come into the porcelain tank and cracked it because of the rapid temperature change. Water. Gushing. Everywhere.
Are you saying I should unplug this space heater I have aimed at the wall and turn off the water to the toilet?
Fucking Hot water pipe froze over night. Cold water is running just fine. Getting trees cut down in the backyard on Friday (more fucking $$$$) and just had my mainline replaced a few months ago. I have no fucking money whatsoever, please let this frozen pipe thaw without cracking.
Ok so I'm going to fill the back of the toilet with some ice to get the temp down and continue to thaw Prayers are appreciated during this time
