That was ugly. I can’t remember the last time I was so unemotionally attached to a uva hoops team. It had to be the Leitao Years.

I’m kinda worried this feeling is here to satay with the new transfer rules. Maybe I’m being pessimistic

 

To bring the whole fiasco of the last 10 days or so full circle, Bobby Haskins is now in the transfer portal

 

he should get some looks from good programs too. fuck that sucks.

 

Olu now in too. Don’t blame these kids, and the new coach will recruit some of them back. But it does kind of feel like the program is crumbling right now.

 

I am surprised at how many are leaving. damn.

Absolutely, going into the portal allows you to legally talk to other schools. So it’s in their best interest to go in to see what’s out there. Then should the school still want them they could come back.

 

okay fine, but you can’t make me enjoy this.

 

Oh it doesn’t feel good from a fan perspective at all, but it’s good for the kids.

 

I was not one of those “NIL and athlete empowerment will kill college sports!” people but I do feel like it’s impacting my enjoyment of the sport. Not so much the NIL, but the ability to transfer at will. The roster management stuff has been part of what’s so interesting about college sports.

I’m not against it - I’m in favor of it for the kids, it works out for the best for them and they’ve been exploited for so long. But I do think it’s only going to accelerate the inequities in college sports.

 

Totally understand, with all the guys going in and out of the roster is hard to know who is on the team and build that fandom for the individual players.

 

There’s enough UVa money out there to significantly change the direction of our football program and there wouldn’t need to be a compromise of the academics. The NIL should be a big positive for us but instead we treat it like it’s beneath us. Somebody start a fund and let’s start contributing and paying for players.

 

it’s one of my own least favorite opinions. I just don’t feel the same way about Bryce Perkins and Trey Murphy as I do about Brennan Armstrong and Kyle Guy.

my biggest problem with players transferring out is i don't want them to end up at teams i don't like. like haskins and taylor both had Pitt offers out of high school, if either went to Pitt and found success it would really hurt.

 

Wish Casey Morsell and Justin McKoy had gone to like… Texas and Iowa

 

We only see McKoy at the end of games. Zing

 

Pretty sure it can not be incentive based.

 

Let the NCAA come after me when I pay for 3 new ads after our qb throws for 3 TDs but conveniently don’t need any after we lose to an FCS school.

 

I will offer $500,000 to any athlete who shaves points in my favor. This is legal due to the NIL

 

Sure, but there are a lot more laws against that.

Not going to lie… I was at a bar and saw it quickly and thought it was London Johnson in my head

 

Faumui now in the portal as well. The post-Elliott portal entries/decommits are a little concerning.

Pretty clear Bronco recruited a certain type of kid, and that kid committed to Bronco rather than to UVA.

this class will be pretty terrible.

 

Won't blame him for much else, but that's pretty much squarely on Bronco deciding to resign less than 2 weeks before signing day.

Elliott can't even reach out to these kids right now, from what I understand.
