I asked my buddy who teaches at VT. He’s assuming the Commonwealth game will be cancelled too. I can only speculate, but maybe rest of UVA’s season too?
the young NBA Hoos had good nights. Trey Murphy had his first double-double in the NBA 19pts-10rebs. Sam Hauser went 5-6 from 3 and had 6 rebs.
If the VT game is played at all it would be an amazing gesture for VT to allow the game to be played in cville Phillips seems like a competent commissioner who could get that done
Was thinking if they do play it, even if in blacksburg, hopefully they run senior day programming for the UVA seniors too
It's a really tough call. I get the "leave it to the players" thoughts, but also think people sometimes need to be protected from themselves. I can imagine a ton of players being too proud to say "I'm done" or getting pressure from teammates who want to play the game when they don't feel comfortable, etc. I can imagine how difficult it would be to walk back into that building and just constantly be thinking about the three guys who are missing. On the other hand, I wonder if a return to "normalcy" and finding a way to honor their teammates through the game would be cathartic. Idk, it shouldn't matter to fans one way or another, and I see both sides from the team's perspective. Glad it's not my decision to make.
I agree 100% with everything you wrote here I think after a week of grieving it might be the case that the players will want something to turn their attention and effort toward to honor their teammates memory and are able to handle that. If that’s the case then no one should stand in their way
Might be easier for them not to have to host it. Just show up and play. 100% VT should do SR day for UVA if that’s how this goes. No clue what they will decide, don’t think there is a right or wrong answer.
Rough game, feels like we run into a couple of these every year where they’re just ripping the net from 3 and there’s not much we can do. Still think we can win it, doesn’t seem like Michigan is a super well coached team.
agreed Michigan is god awful at defense- if they shoot like a non-blessed team in the 2nd the Hoos will win
I get that Dickenson is good but he’s fouling at least once for every foul he’s drawn. His elbows are everywhere
