yeah because like 5% of the people watching actually know your real name, thats the difference you real life skyler -- Robin Wright has described how she had to fight to be paid the same amount as co-star Kevin Spacey on the hit Netflix drama House of Cards. In a move that would have made Claire Underwood proud, Wright told an audience at the Rockerfeller Centre in New York that she had to threaten studio bosses with going public unless they agreed to equal pay – which they did. “It was the perfect paradigm. There are very few films or TV shows where the male, the patriarch, and the matriarch are equal. And they are in House of Cards,” Wright said, according to a report by the Huffington Post. “I was like: ‘I want to be paid the same as Kevin.’” In the hugely popular political thriller, Wright plays steely first lady Claire Underwood, the wife and co-conspirator of President Frank Underwood, played by Spacey.
she wanted a raise for the sake of a raise, not for "equality". every character on HoC brings value, but Spacey is the straw that stirs the drink. the guy should be paid the most.
finally got around to binge watching the last half of season 3 and all of season 4 over the past 4 days. glad the show redeemed itself with s4 Spoiler: are we still spoilering? I wasn't sure interested to see if season 5 has them win the election and then have their big downfall or if the election loss is part of the downfall.
thank you everytim four da likez. I think the biggest struggle with this and most shows is they plateau once the characters reach the mountain top. S1 - manipulating his was into the VP left us floored S2 - despite knowing he was capable, no one really expect him to dupe the President into resigning S3 - he doesnt have anywhere else to go
House of Cards has been so much fun to watch because it was this fantasy world where a US president was inherently evil and strongly biased towards his self interests. I'm sure it will continue to be a great show, especially if this happens to be the last season, but I'm curious to see with the way things have played out in real life how much interest and enthusiasm the plot will continue to drive with its target audience.
I have zero interest in watching it this season. Between everything working out for him, and the shitty story the past season, I'm bored with it. Plus the current president feels a bit too close to Frank in some ways.
Yeah first couple of seasons, the plots were crazy but certainly within the realm of possibility of what could go on in politics. This past season honestly was completely unbelievable and couldn't happen in politics ever.
I'm not even sure I'mma watch any. Who am I kidding, I'll binge it as soon as I clock out in two hours.
At my grandparents house in Germany and was hoping to binge watch this. It's not showing up for me though, apparently it's dropping later here. Guess I will have to watch Bloodline.
Have watched the first couple eps and really into it. I kinda hope there isn't much more though because it's getting (or has very well already gotten to) the point of no return.
up to ep 5 does it get better? idk if it's the storyline, or the 24/7 of Trump but something just isn't all that great so far
Haven't watched any of the new season yet. Me and the wife watch it together and we haven't been able to just yet. Still somewhat disgusted over last season's ending with the Underwood/Underwood ticket. I thought that was really dumb. Hope that somehow gets changed.
3 eps in and I really don't remember half the stuff from last season it was so long ago. I don't recall anything about this hacker guy with the nsa. Season has started fairly slow I feel but last scene of ep 3 seems like it's setting up for something real intriguing. And Tom is such a boring crappy character. I hate him so much. Painful to watch.
Finished and it drags in the middle but last 3 eps are good Spoiler pushing the SOS down the stairs I thought for sure was imaginary at first, that resolved that story thread quite stupidly
Finished Spoiler thank God Tom's dead. Part of me was hoping this season ended the show. With how it ended I think it might've for me. Don't know if I quite care about where this is gonna go moving forward.
Didn't like this season, the pacing was ludicrous. Besides Usher and Davis, the new characters were worthless. What was the point of Tom this season? What was the point of the dynamic between donor list guy's widow and Doug? What the fuck was the point of personal trainer / ex confederate Eric?! It seemed like every story arc got close to being able to assert itself, and then ended anti-climatically. I seriously laughed out loud for minutes when I realized that Durant scene wasn't imaginary, I mean wtf?
I was so excited to watch... then watched the 1st episode and forgot it just wasn't a good show anymore.
Frank and Claire are such pieces of shit that I find very little enjoyment from watching the show. Was pot commited at this point though.
Spoiler Agree, this was by far the dumbest part of the season. I'm also not sure how I feel about Underwood's "epiphany" that leads him to resign. I have a hard time believing a career politician as savvy as him wouldn't have figured that out long ago. But overall I enjoyed it. I liked the Underwood vs Underwood turn at the end and I think they set themselves up nicely for next season.
Spoiler Claire is such a boring character. I hate that they are setting up Underwood vs Underwood. The whole show has shown that Frank > Claire because she gets emotional and fucks up then Frank fixes it. Now they'll have a whole season where she is making his life hell? Not buying it.
semi political rant - I dont see how people can say "Drumpf ruined this show for meeeeeee...." when this season is about a First Lady with short blonde hair revealing herself to be just as, if not more, power hungry than her husband. unfortunately the ascension is often the most entertaining part of a story arc, so the show is going to struggle to be fresh as we have learned the lengths to which Frank is willing to go. I still have no idea what to make of their relationship. Half the time I think they are two cold people who know the other is their perfect match, then I think Frank just uses her as a beard.
Hillary would have absolutely thrown Bill in front of a subway car if it would not have affected her career.
