Why did I watch tonight? They scored over 10 the game before so obviously tonight they would shit the bed as is tradition.
I did see on Twitter this afternoon someone betting 100 on a shutout (or loss) after scoring so much last night, it really does seem to happen a lot with this team, also saw these a few minutes ago
Come back and get ‘em tomorrow And man, my main concern re: Abreu at this point is he’s hitting everything on the ground and low line drives, like no lift at all
Glad I was young when bagwell and that crew were on the Astros. If that was the group on the team now it would be difficult to root for them. A bunch of hardo douches
It’s pretty clear that he is completely washed it’s just a matter of time before he’s released. Unfortunately it won’t be until next year. maybe he will agree to a buyout instead of embarrassing himself for two more years, but it seems like baseball players never do that
Great start…Nice to see Abreu leave 2 more on in top of first and then bielak quickly give up 2 runs in bottom of first
Tough to be too upset with bielak or France. They are pretty much the definition of replacement players
Oh of course, Bielak has actually pitched around a lot of traffic his last few starts while France has pitched better than I think any of us could have expected
Bielak has recovered nicely and I’d take 5 innings of 2-run ball from him every time. Unfortunately he hasn’t gotten any run support (and France didn’t either yesterday before Montero blew it open).
Good call to let bielak try to get 7 innings it’s incredible that this team was able to overcome dusty as a manger to win it all last year
Seriously wondering if anyone told Dusty that they have a day off tomorrow. You just got 6 quality innings out of your #5 starter, probably was time to take him out after the first homer in the 7th, despite the pitch count still being low
And these are pretty accurate descriptions for Bielak, often pitching around traffic and balls being put in play but also providing this team some solid innings most of the time, just hasn't gotten a lot of run support (today or in the finale at Seattle).
Just heard chrome interview on 790 am and he said Astros have 18 HRs in 20 May games and 5 were on Monday. Also said that only 3 guys have over .700 OPS in May (Yordan, Maldy, and Meyers), that’s not great Bob
Even at the time as a kid I kinda realized they had no juice. Bagwell, Biggio, Derek Bell, meh. The pitchers were all whatever other than Wagner. The guys in the late 80s like Doran and Reynolds and Anderson were fun but that was before my time. Casey Candaele and Eric Anthony tho.
Hate this for the kid--just doesn't look good--thought he may finally join the big league club at some point this year
