How do you feel about career/business/life coaches?

Season 2 lost my interest halfway through.

 

I have and still do work with consultants. I just make sure they have actually done what I am asking them to teach me to do.

 

Damn I actually agree with this.

 

I see this stuff all over LinkedIn but have no idea what it actually means. What I’ve learned in my time on this planet is that usually means it’s some sort of grift

Is this coach going to have me running the business equivalent of a gasser in my off time?

 

My wife hired a career coach that helped her navigate leaving her job and interviewing for other jobs

my step sister and her boyfriend are grifting people with like breathing techniques and business ideas with no job experience and no education other than basic bachelors degrees

so like everything some good some bad

i'm imagining when i went out to dinner with my MIL and she brought her employees and they all laughed way too hard at her jokes. except whammy would be talking about discord servers.

 

and calling buddha by his government name when referencing holistic human capital

 

I’m sure there are people out there that actually do make a difference for others as a “life coach,” but my only experience with them makes it seem like just another angle social media attention addicts use to get their fix.

My buddy at work came into my office a few months ago and showed me his wife’s new IG page. She was one those that had “fit” at the end of her username for years but decided to transition into a life coach.

She mainly posts pics of her “grinding” on her laptop with notepads and coffee cups everywhere looking like she’s working on solving some global crisis. Clearly for the likes and comments. But my buddy said she has two “clients,” one is her cousin she’s helping with a job search fresh out of college, and the other is a girl who bought all her fitness tips and might just be obsessed.

tl;dr: life coach is another angle for people to get the social media attention they crave.

another profile that deserves to get thrown in the mba landfill are the twats who never had a real job outside of consulting; then use their family's money to claim they are an "Angel Investor". Again, just trying to skim off other people's work.

Yep. That’s why he only vents at work I’m guessing. At home, he’s a photography assistant for her posts. We still mess with him about some photos she posted prob a year ago. They got a new puppy, and she bought a “stay-at-home dog mom” shirt on Etsy and made him take a bunch with her and their dogs.
