I try not to get into these conversations via internet, but I will say, I have never understood the argument from some of these dorks thinking they’d single handedly stop these shootings because they have a handgun. I’d say a majority of these people don’t have the guts and/or the skills (mental or actual gun handling) to do it.

Ban ALL the guns! That'll stop the crazy criminals from getting them. Spoiler Yes I fully realize something needs to change. However telling those types of people that you can't have them anymore cause it's illegal isn't going to stop them. They aren't exactly the law abiding type. Obviously everyone has their opinions on the matter. I guess mine would be to "ban" manufacturing all assault rifles and any semi-automatic guns...handguns included going forward. That way it makes it much harder to get one...especially as time goes on. Hunting is still important for population control and controlling spreading of disease for many different species and the money that comes from hunters paying to hunt is very important for tons of ecological reasons. They and everyone else just don't need handguns or AR 15's to do it.
Most of America's mass shootings have been done with legally purchased weapons. And I think most people are just talking about ARs. But the NRA would love people to think that argument somehow imperils their double barrell 20ga
Yeah, for some weird reason people associate gun control (background checks, no ARs/war like weapons for sale, registering your gun, etc) with straight up ban. I don’t really understand why a responsible gun owner who goes hunting, locks it up in a safe, preaches safety, all of that...gets so bent out of shape about the above “gun control” stuff.
I used to think this way especially growing up hunting in rural Nebraska. I still go pheasant hunting at least once or twice a year with friends. But then when you actually look at the gun violence statistics everywhere in THE WORLD versus the USA and you realize it’s 100% not worth. Kids, women, men who are only guilty of shopping at a fucking Walmart are getting murdered on a daily basis. Now, I’m a registered independent who voted R more than I’ve voted D. That being said, one party is trying to fix the problem, the other wrings its hands and says, with a straight face, that MORE guns will solve the problem, that this is caused because we removed prayer from schools, and that video games are the cause of mass shootings. It’s completely and utterly factless, senseless and disingenuous to not look at the problem and see the solution. Imo...it's just not realistic for the government to try and ban all guns which I'm assuming you're saying. If that's not what you're saying then my mistake. If there are too many people dying because of guns now...try actually taking them away from everyone and see how that goes. That's why I have the opinion I posted. I think it would help and also important, I think it would be possible without incredible levels of uproar. As for the rest of your post. I don't really want to get into the ideologies.

I think they interviewed 2 or 3 people that were carrying at the Walmart and they were unable to do anything. Everyone thinks they’re a badass that would stop it until they’re in the situation.

Bystander effect is very real and there's nothing to be gained by pretending it isn't. Not to mention the fact that a defense against mass shootings that involves civilians heroically putting themselves in harms way doesn't seem like a real defense at all. Also not to mention the fact that even under ideal circumstances relying on reactive measures to stop a shooter after he's already started is accepting x number of deaths that would be preventable with more proactive measures (preaching to the choir I know but piggybacking your point)
Why do you think I'm saying or doing nothing? Just because I don't want to get into a debate on left vs right with Ron? He and I have discussed the issue which is the important part. What does debating GOP vs Dem with him accomplish? Ftr...like Ron I'm also not registered as either a Republican or Democrat. Also, I don't know why you would just assume I do nothing. I volunteer in my community for disadvantaged youth and have every month for 4+ years. I have voted in every election since I graduated college.
