From 24/7 national guy: Raiola explained why he has such high interest in the Cornhuskers, who have captured the attention of recruits from across the country after the arrival of Matt Rhule. “Just the energy (coach Rhule) brings and the culture he’s bringing to the building, it’s super exciting to see,” Raiola said. “I think fans in Lincoln are super excited. I’m personally excited, with my dad going there and everything that goes into that. I’m excited to get back there and see what they have to offer. And see what Nebraska is all about.”
‘what THEY have to offer.’ He knows Nebraska, the last part is mostly filler. The first part is very telling though. Has zero bearings if we land him, Rhule is doing what he can at this point and simply might lose to Georgia because it’s fucking Georgia. But my lord was everything true before Rhule got here.
They 75% the staff 25% NIL deal (I don’t care if he family is well off, no fucking kid just ignores the bottom line of hundreds of thousands of dollars to potentially millions. You are a fool if you don’t think this will play an issue)
Reluctantly took the NW money line tonight, ignoring the sketchy spread. Thank me later when Nebraska coasts.
Teams are a combined 10/16 from three and they’re both usually horrible at shooting. Pregame total was 127 and live it’s 141
That lineup gave me serious flashbacks to the last year under Sadler, but we were making shots at that point before Walker and Griesel came back in lol
I really hate the “but we’re inured” excuse. Fred hasn’t even sniffed an average season and we probably won’t win a game the rest of this year. There’s zero reason to keep him besides Trev not wanting to look for a coach after firing Farts.
Not comparing the two in anyway besides results, but it’s similar to 2021 for Frost. Sure there were a ton of close losses but the hole was already dug at that point. It’s similar with basketball this year, I do think the injuries played a part in some of the losses this year (can add the stretch without Walker to that). I do think Fred finally made some adjustments to the style he wants to play but it’s just all too little too late. You just lose the benefit of the doubt with how bad it’s been in the other years.
Damn. I hadn’t thought about it that way, but this seems pretty spot on. I don’t think there will be many close losses from this point forward but there probably would have been several if it was just one of either Bandoumel or Gary that got injured.
Since it’s not my money used for a buyout or my job to fire Fred, I’d like to fire Fred and bring back Miles. He won’t win the conference but at likable and will do better than this
Yeah, I guess I should clarify I don’t mean it’ll be similar with the close losses now but there was a chance to at least show some progress record wise, even if it was probably fools gold.
I just assume it’s whatever Wisconsin does. Or maybe Virginia trying to win games where it’s the first to 50.
The thing with Miles was when it was bad it was BAD, like stretches that were equally as bad as the Hoiberg era. He was just able to overcome it by mixing in those couple seasons where the team got hot. Plus he was a likable personality. It was also before PBA got lumped in with other Husker sports in terms of lame ass gameday production so going to games was actually fun.
Any AD with half a brain can watch this game and see just how terrible this program is because recruiting and development suck
Just because I was curious I looked back at the Miles era: Year 3 (after NCAA bid in year 2) we ended the season 1-11 with 9 straight losses. Year 4 we ended the regular season 2-9 with 5 straight losses before winning a couple in the B10 tourney. Year 5 ended the season 3-12 with 5 straight losses. Year 6, went 22-11 and should have made the dance. Year 7, started the season 11-2, ended regular season 16-15 after a ton of injuries. Ended up with a couple miracle wins in B10 tourney which got us to the NIT (lost in 2nd round).
Seems strange how our coaches seem to find an easier time busting through the doors and being warmly received in TX than here. We can haul in all the Isaiah Smith-Floreses in the world, but Ben Brahmer's all "I think I'll take my crew socks and farmer tan to the great city of Ames" Fuck Nebraska HS football. Just the weirdest, most insecure, delicate network of schools and coaches around.
Speaking of pot, I almost pooped my pants at work this morning. Ate one too many fiber one bars last night after injecting some devil lettuce. Have been trumpet farting all night and in to the morning. Gambled on what I thought was a fart, and nope it was shit. Clinched just in time to avoid disaster and duck walked my way to the only restroom at the office on our floor. Unleashed hell with about 5 other guys just minding their own business.
