Haven't had a recruiting weekend like this one coming up since the Callahan days IMO, and even that might be a stretch.
Hopefully most of them make it. Feel like on these big recruiting weekends there’s always a few that end up not going.

Gonna be interesting to see the product on the field but Rhule seems like he has all the good things most of our bad coaches had but none of the bad things, at least at first glance that stick out as obvious red flags. Wants to focus on toughness like Pelini but isn't a paranoid narcissisit psychopath. Focuses on recruiting like Callahan but can identify with fans way better and speak their language. Cares about the players like Riley but still wants a tough edge with super high expectations. Has a bigger name to attract talent like Frost initially did but without all the arrogance and baggage and with experience in building programs already.
A thought I had re: Raiola.... Dom knows right now we have all our eggs in that basket. If we were totally out of the running don't you think Dom would let us know and we'd see a big run of new '24 QB offers go out?
I certainly would think so. I still think he's a 'mit. It's either that or Rhule is totally mismanaging our QB recruiting. I think that's far less likely. Beyond what I think, I know Mike Farrell and Wiltfong don't know wtf is going on, or totally do and need to squeeze some more sub sales out of this before it's over
or they’re putting all their eggs in the Raiola basket knowing if they miss on him they still have a million QB’s on roster, including Sims for 2 years still. Seems we’re off to a good start for 2025 QB Stone Saunders who is a top 150 guy on Rivals. The 25th will obviously be a big tell on Raiola, but things have obviously been trending towards USC with all the national guys and the insider from Oregon predicting USC recently. Even the guys from all the Nebraska sites seem down on Raiola now. I also believe I read where he’s visiting USC again in early April.
yeah I suppose that's plausible too. Wonder if we might be able to poach Kaelin from Mizzou or grab a gently used Flores from OK State in that case, too
Raiola is not coming here. The #1 QB in the country is not going to a shitty big ten west school that has been irrelevant for 20 years. He’s enjoying the recruitment process and throwing us a bone by acting interested, but we all know how this ends.
Should listen to Dom give interviews. He doesn’t talk like a guy who would let his kid do a dog and pony show to his alma mater. He’ll still prob go elsewhere but there’s legit interest.
I think the most plausible explanation is Dylan is legit interested but hasn't decided yet. Rhule probably not wanting to throw out other offers yet so we can show Dylan he's our priority. With the portal, a HS QB is absolutely not a necessity. If Dylan doesn't come we can easily snap up a young portal QB and focus on Saunders for '25. At least that's how I'd be playing it.
The recruiting coverage industry is so fucking gross. It wouldn't surprise me if there was some shit where they said "drag this out a while longer and we'll keep you #1" or something. This is a business built on the backs of such titans of men as Mike Farrell and Dean O'Houlihan.
You could legit argue that the best thing about landing Raiola is the connection to other players it would OBVIOUSLY generate. It’s absolutely not boom or bust for the ‘will this work or not’ crowd. The fact we are even a thing says a lot about the staff and the way they went about it. With the transfer portal, as huskerrolly mentioned, it isn’t even close to make or break. What it potentially could do is open the doors to a top 10 class and that would be pretty nuts.
