I lowkey hate myself for paying any attention to the self-licking ice cream cone that is college football polls.
a win is a win, fellas. good shit. and won by the exact amount I anticipated as well. hot damn inching closer to a 9 win projection. now go take care of Maryland
also looked to me like Donovan Jones was covering Nick Marsh a ton probably due to his size and he pretty well locked him up.
In fact, he's done the opposite of the thing I've hated every NU DC for these past 25 years. Adjusted the fuck out of the defense after Cinci ran all over our soft asses. We're aggressive AF now. Run defense might still look bad on paper but it's not because Butler's being a puss
If we win 9 games with this offensive line then John Butler needs one hell of a raise. im here for it though
Somewhere on Bizzaro TMB discord server Huskerwiz and his cronies are dropping Lou Sassle in the chat
Just an update from my buddy who did the chocolate mushrooms. good, not great, just an “intense weed high”
My buddy from high school (council bluffs) is the director of player personnel for the Mariners. Pretty cool to watch this year.
And what the fuck is ole Jim seeing to even question Dylan’s maturity? The kid has acted like a pro since he stepped on campus.
Was listening to a pod and Schaefer had a good observation about Dylan. Dude makes incredible plays and is generally quick with reads but when he gets hit that’s when he gets rattled and starts getting foggy and his reads slow down. Then it takes him a while to speed back up and keep his eyes down field. More often than not it would be best to just run the ball after Dylan gets sacked, especially the first time
I think it's more about Raiola not wanting to affect his completion %. There's several times each game where you can see him think about doing the right thing (throwing it away out of bounds), and then not (running out of bounds for 2 yard loss).
Yeah I highly doubt he's volitionally getting clobbered for the simple sake of inflating his comp %. That's ridiculous. Shadeur, yeah I'd believe it.
I’d rather take sacks than throw picks. But the next evolution is finding an outlet or throwing it out of bounds so sacks aren’t a necessity
Not really at Nebraska. We’ve historically had the opposite where our quarterbacks go into contact. None of them have been as talented as a pure quarterback at Nebraska but Raiola is like, toward the bottom in the country in handling getting hit/pressured. It’s ok to admit that it’s clearly the weakest part of his game in an otherwise pro level quarterback.
The only husk quarterback I remember turtling under pressure like Dylan is later years post injuries Martinez going into contact
Yeah our tackle play is bad on its own but DR makes it look atrocious. I think it will "improve" as the year goes on but I think that'll be more because DR improves his pocket game/timing + Holgo accommodates with his playcalling than our OTs actually improving their pass pro.
Raiola's trying to play like Mahomes but he's built like his dad (lineman). He needs to stop forcing the backyard football style and embrace being a pocket passer.
I love that dude saying he wishes DR had Adrian Martinez's mental makeup. Ah yes Adrian Martinez real gamer, no fear attitude. We are down a possession and driving late 4q... TIME TO RUN WITH THE BALL LIKE A LOAF OF BREAD OR MAYBE EVEN THROW INTO TRIPLE COVERAGE. Kid was fearless gotta love it!
He’s been surprisingly bad throwing the ball deep. Also has a tendency to just loft passes instead of putting some power behind his throws. I feel like him missing Lindenmeyer last year against Illinois still affects him.
BIG 10 Sack Leaders Maryland Terrapins 19 USC Trojans 17 Indiana Hoosiers 16 Michigan Wolverines 15 Interesting.
It’s probably a one year thing for Millard South and class A domination but if the super teams continue (there’s been some really good class A teams lately) would the answer be to have a promotion/relegation and do a 4 team AA playoff (Millard South/Burke/Westside/Prep/etc) and let the rest of the teams play in class A.
That’s fine for playoffs but how are you going to fix the regular season games? I’m also not sure it’s just a one year thing. It seems it’s a problem that’s been getting incrementally worse each year for the past 3ish years.
I don’t follow HS football that close but they talk about it on the radio in the morning and from what I understand, I’m pretty sure they have “open enrollment” or whatever in Omaha (maybe the whole state) so kids have started going wherever they want and teams are recruiting, etc. I think I read somewhere that most of the starters played for the Millard South “feeder” program together so I’m guessing they’ve been running the same system and playing together for awhile. They also have 15 kids with FBS offers iirc. The QB is a Bama commit, then I think they have a couple of Illinois commits, Mizzou and Iowa State. I feel like it’s been a slow progression where for awhile Bell West had a few guys outside of the district, then Westside, and now MS seems to be taking that to a new level.
Let them play the class A teams in the regular season. Just when playoffs start you scrape the 4 best ones off the top.
Millard South is recruiting not just from the metro but the entire state. Their running back going to Illinois is from Grand Island.
