Teddy is going to shoot us into and out of huge scoring droughts in the same half multiple times this year
He helped win us the game last night, but he has to be smarter on the gambles he takes on steals. Last night he missed the steal and left the guy wide open for 3. Fortunately, they missed. Against any team in the Big10, you can assume it's in. He got taken on back door cuts a few times too.
I noticed this too. In games 2/3 he didn't look awful. He'd miss open 3's, but his defense and instincts helped create opportunities. Last night he looked awful. He wasn't catching balls, getting back cut on, and missing shots. If we weren't in foul trouble early, I have a feeling Fred would have benched him.
I liked how after half he came out and talked to the refs like a grown up. He apologized for yelling and asked what he could do to prevent getting called for more charges. You could tell it helped the entire team out because the refs weren't calling the 50/50 charges against us any more.

Screaming, "CALL THE FUCKING FOUL" in an empty gym will always get you a T. What you referenced is the sign of maturity he's struggled with for years and gives me a lot of hope that he'll be successful here. Hoiberg is the perfect HC for him and our program.
Also doesn’t help that he turned and looked straight at him. I’m surprised he made it to game 4 before getting a technical after hearing some of the stories at WNCC
Texted my friend during the game how I thought he was getting T’d on the defensive possession before...then said both Teddy and the SD dude’s techs were probably influenced by the fact we’re in an empty arena. Can’t be screaming as much at refs/opponents.
Yep. Techs in college games are often used to set the tone early when they don't affect the game. Particularly after they'd already stuck the kid from SD, it was very easy to even it up when Teddy did the same thing and the game went smooth after. Similar to when they stuck both Miles and McDermott for chirping at each other a couple years ago.
Teddy Allen pros: gets to the basket with physicality and can finish through contact, seems to be a decent 3-point shooter despite strange mechanics, extreme confidence in playmaking ability. Teddy Allen cons: seems temperamental, takes some bad streetball shots on occasion, will take breaks on defense due to effort exerted on offensive end, extreme confidence in playmaking ability. With good coaching we can erase a lot of the cons. Would also like to see us manage the game better when the W is all but wrapped up. Guys chucking quick 3's and going 1-on-3 on the fast break with 4 minutes to go in a 12 point game is just facepalm stuff.
I think he'll be fine. Honestly did not watch much last season (that I want to remember), but I remember he's a good 3-point shooter. He seems to now be the corner-three guy, so as long as our guys dish the ball to him when things get clogged, he will get a lot of open looks (this could be a big IF judging by the number of charges we took last night lol). Diminished role, but he should have mostly good shot opportunities now.
Well... Milton is transferring. Does Frost go after him? Is he going to be the same talent he was? Is the gamble that he can get back to his 2017 self worth burning down your QB room? Tough spot for frost to be in.
Our oline will have his career ended. He’s small. Big Ten players are big, and coming off a horrific injury... I don’t see it ending well.
Milton chooses Nebraska, flies in, steps off the plane into the "fuck-us" perimeter and slips on a patch of ice rebreaking his leg. But to be serious, I imagine Milton can still throw the football. His scrambling is probably not going to be the same, but I would love to be proved wrong on that.
I could definitely see Luke or Martinez transferring after this season, so you could bring Milton in that spot. Who knows how good he’d be but probably worth the gamble considering how bad this offense is. As others have said though there’s bigger fish to fry than a QB right now sadly.
Luke has zero future at QB. Wouldn’t blame if he transfers but if he wants to play ball past college it’s as RB/WR
I hope to god McCaffrey realizes his future isn’t at QB at the next level and will try to be a RB/WR if we have a solid QB. as for Martinez, seems like a good kid, but we can only give him so many chances to make lemonade out of the lemons that are our football games.
Milton's saga will go one of two ways. 1) Frost recruits him, he says nah, absolutely tears it up for Kiffin at Ole Miss next year and gets drafted. We look like dumb dumbs. 2) Frost recruits him, he says yah, McCaffrey and Smothers transfer while he looks like a smaller, slower, less accurate version of Zac Lee. We look like dumb dumbs.
Gonna laugh when it's almost all of Diaco's starting defense and we still can't put the ball in the end zone.
