Random question - pretty much every automatic transmission car has the ability to be manually shifted with paddle shifters or a button on the shifter, but has anyone EVER used that? (I enjoy a manual transmission but seems like carmakers are giving us a feature nobody uses)

 

I tried it once just to see how it worked but it was stupid so never again.

But I agree, have said the same thing before. Like give me a backup camera and maybe some censors so I don’t T Bone someone. All the other stuff can go.

 

It’s the only way I drive my Honda Odyssey but I’m built different

 

Do you have the paddles or an actual shifter that moves? I feel like the shifter wouldn’t be as bad.

I had a guy swear by those shifters once. He told me they’re a must for shifting down to slow down when it’s snowy/icy. I told him I use the brakes to slow the car down. Call me old fashioned.
