Surprised the shoulder is but I guess that could be like a 6-8 week recovery then have to get back into shape. The hip could be career ending if it’s bad enough.
Wonder if they'll start playing that freshmen feller, Ives, to go along with Emmett Johnson and Grant.
Looks like they'll likely play Ives now https://nebraska.rivals.com/news/rb...-and-freshman-cb-dwight-bootle-out-for-season
I feel like we need at least 2 more QBs beyond Kaelin. Get a portal guy and another maybe questionable freshmen QB they could sell as an athlete or something idk. Tell Sims to hit the fuckin bricks in the offseason and let Purdy do whateverthefuck but we need a lot more options.
Maybe I’m just a sicko but a guy that has never stayed healthy and a guy that has never been able to beat anyone out don’t concern me too much. Grant just needs to hold on to the ball.
This is my thought as well. Even pre-season you almost had to assume we’d lose some QBs even if that meant HH moving to TE or Chubba leaving, etc. I think Kaelin can develop into a solid QB or at least it’s worth a shot, but we might not see that until like his 3rd season. Get a portal guy who can play 1-2 years and make an immediate impact. Then get a guy who you can move to a 2nd position if needed (similar to a HH I guess you could say in terms of athleticism).
I haven’t seen much of him. How good of an athlete is he? Could he move to TE or LB or something? I’ve seen a few clips with solid passes but the others are all screen pass type throws.
Very good athlete, probably slightly below is brother. I think he’d make a hell of a Jack or rover if he can put the weight on. Passing numbers look good, but you’re right that it’s a lot of screens and flares.
Ives sounds like a promising young feller but he's one that ideally needed a year. Tough luck kid it's your turn to die out there.
My reading comprehension is so high that for the past hour since I read that tweet I thought Rhamir had both dislocated his hip and shoulder. Sounds like a real tough couple of injuries but with this oline I figured anything was possible.
If we're going to win 3 games might as well get the young fellers some time to invest in the future. That's actually been an amazing thing about defense. They've played a fuckton of guys in regular time with very little dropoff.
-Purdy at QB -Haardvark FB -Sims and Fumbling RB as wishbone set RBs. -2 TEs, no WRs. -40 full back traps a game. -“BRING THAT BEAUTIFUL WHALE TROPHY BACK TO LINCOLN” - 6 wins and we’re back - 2024 natural grass on and a tarp over Memorial
We shouldn’t be running FB Traps when our FBs whiff on blocks that I need to find a video of. 2:53. could’ve had his choice at either defender and instead… we didn’t bring Frank back to memorial for this kinda play.
On that play NIU got the sack fumble it looked like we tried to sell the run by having the RG pull and pick up a block on the left side (he didn’t) then RT took a step left and was supposed to slide back over to his right and pick up the edge rusher. Not sure why we thought that would work when our tackles barely touch the DL in regular pass pro. We tried it again in the 2nd half and the RG whiffed and it was either a sack or the pass got knocked down. Hoping that one gets scrapped until we have a better OL.
The O Street shenanigans every weekend night are well known to anyone who has spent any time in Lincoln. It's crazy they haven't done more to address it. Likely the cops are preoccupied with other important matters such as harassing poor people and minorities
Qbs: Secret Haardvark looked solid against an overmatched team. I find it weird when people use Sims athleticism as his biggest upside, that’s the same with HH. Dude is extremely fast for a guy that’s as tall/big as he is and arm strength isn’t an issue at all. His accuracy is really meh. Sims: a very good athlete, supposedly really well liked by his teammates, strong arm, fast and even more turnover prone than NEBRASKA fans are used to. Chubba: what has he ever shown that makes him even brought up in discussion? Seriously. The offense is what it is, at this point you kind of hope to limit turnovers and give yourself a chance late. I think, for at least right now, HH needs to continue to play till that appears not to be the case. As stated earlier, we have 3 guys that can move and it is what it is. Run them into the ground because we don’t have any running backs either.
Btw a ton of this defense returns next year throw in a monster transfer corner and MLB and it could be filthy
After 3 games I'd be surprised if this defense is ever worse than pretty damn good under White. Could be really really good next year. Now we just need to find an offense in the portal while we develop the younger guys.
I count 5 returning starters and Henrich has already been passed by Bullock. Hutmacher, Gunnerson, Gifford, Brown, Singleton all barely played or did it poorly. If you go into the 2 deep none of them played last year besides Hill a little. That's honestly incredible to have an 70-80% new 2 deep and be this improved.
