Mors kid that left Wisconsin did not choose Creighton or Nebraska. Going to SDSU. jackrabbits continue to be bizzaro UNL
Looked him up. He averaged 19 a game as a 7th grader for Yankton High. I forgot 7th and 8th graders can play varsity up in SD.
My kids play at a class B school (like D1-D2 in Nebraska). We have a 7th on varsity in literally every sport. It’s crazy.
Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Just bunch of vanilla offense against a bunch of vanilla defense. Can’t put anything on film for the northwestern game(huge eye roll).
CU walking out down the aisles of Folsom Field only to have Ahman Green house one on our opening play. Sure do miss these days.
Can’t wait for the worst players to have the best game and lots of deep think pieces from scan hooligan on rrs
herb.burdette i forgot to mention. There will be one player, this player will not have any significant playing time since being at Nebraska. This player will have a nice game, maybe 80+ yards from scrimmage and a touchdown or two. You will never hear from this player ever again after the spring game. He will later transfer to another school where he will also do nothing.
The perpetual vacuum of despair in this thread makes me audibly laugh everytim I read this thread. Thank you guys. I truly hope it ends soon.
Thank you? You’re welcome? Go fuck yourself? Gbr? We’re the worst mens sports program in Power 5 and don’t know how to feel
One thing about me is if I leave a few swallows of dank beer in a can or bottle on the counter overnight I chug it the next morning. I find it delicious and it gives me a warm little buzz in the morning. Especially a stout or a big dipa or tipa
It's a spring game so how much it means for the fall will be minimal at best, especially since there are reports Whipple is changing a lot of the offense and we are debuting new faces at some key positions. We are also thin on the DLine plus other places (injuries, roster mismanagement) so they might have to get creative with the format (now announced just offense vs defense, lol). I don't know why I'm typing this out but I'm bored and my patients aren't here yet. Edit: Started this yesterday and got sidetracked. I feel like such a sicko starting it, much less going back to it to finish. But I’m committed now. Hudson said it best a few posts above. Spoiler 1. Casey Thompson - Early reports are he's better in the pocket and with his progressions than Amart, throws a nice ball. He doesn't use his legs as much. We depended on the QB run game quite a bit last year because of AMart's/the offense's deficiencies. 2. Running Backs - Jacquez Yant was fun to watch at times last year and was difficult to bring down, looks to have shed his bad weight and seems more focused on football. Anthony Grant is a former Florida State player that went to Juco last year and was productive. I've heard a few media people on twitter/radio say he will be a favorite to shine this weekend. He's apparently really explosive/elusive. Markese Stepp is a transfer from USC that came in last year and was used sporadically, heralded more as a between the tackles/plodding runner. A lot of our running back usage was befuddling last year and our RB coach (who has since left to..checks notes..North Alabama) was a disappointing (being kind) holdover from Frost's UCF days. We hired Bryan Applewhite from TCU in the offseason. 3. New offense (maybe?)/ New coaches - Whipple seems to have the full reigns of the offense and Frost has taken a step back. I'll believe it when I see it. It will be interesting to monitor what happens this year when we undoubtedly lose a few games and what changes occur when we struggle. Applewhite's management of our running back touches has to be better than what it was last year, as Held seemed to have a Russian roulette plan with the position. Mickey Joseph (former LSU WR coach, former Husker QB) returns to Lincoln as WR/Assoc HC. He’s probably the most hyped Asst we changed over the off-season aside from Whipple. He seems to know the position and coach it well, which would be light years from what Lubick was doing. He was a good recruiter for LSU (notably Ja’Marr Chase, among others). Can he do that here and not just in Louisiana where he grew up? Donovan Raioloa is the new OL coach. He’s the brother of one of our greats, Dominic Raiola, and played at Wisconsin. Coached OL as a grad assistant at Notre Dame and more recently for the Chicago Bears as an asst OL coach. He’s completely unproven as a college coach with regard to recruiting and being the head of a position group. Media are hyping his “more physical” style of line play which is absolutely fluff bullshit. They said the same thing about Bill Callahan and his scheme, and he’s arguably one of the best NFL OL coaches. We finally hired a special teams coach, as Bill Busch comes out of his analyst role and takes over a group he recently coached at LSU. He was at Nebraska in the past and has a good track record. We were obviously terrible last year, and our special teams was on some historical bullshit. I cannot see how that group could get worse (but now I’ve said it so…). 4. Wide Receivers - We have some talent there with Omar Manning, LSU Transfer Trey Palmer, Juco Transfer Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda, and three-time transfer Oliver Martin. Alante Brown has been talked about but has never put it on the field. Zavier Betts was set to return, went to one of our last vestiges of talent in the Omaha area at Bellevue West, but has decided to hang up the cleats and not play anymore. He was a talented player that people really hoped Mickey Joseph would connect with. We of course have some ghost walk-ons from out Johnson-Brock way that we will sprinkle in here and there for reps. 5. OLine - We will never be good until this group is fixed. We have some of our most touted recruits in this position group and they just haven’t performed. Teddy P is a local prospect that looked awesome as a true frosh when he was slotted in at LT during the season last year. He ultimately tore his ACL because we can never have nice things and is out right now. A few other starters are out for the spring. We hoped to return our Center, Cam Jurgens, who was arguably our best player but he decided to leave early for the NFL. Can Raiola get this group going? Lol pry not. 6. Defense/Special Teams - My sicko meter is off the charts right now and this is getting too long so I’m lumping the rest. Our defense shined at times last year. It was also propped up by how shitty our other phases were but I digress. We lose big pieces in Darrion Daniels (NT), Jojo Domann (hybrid LB/DB), and Cam Taylor Britt (DB) to the NFL. Our DLine is so thin and will have to get a couple transfers after the spring season is over. Not having a true NT right now is worrisome to say the least. We have some dudes at LB but can the DLine keep blockers occupied etc? The secondary will be almost completely replaced and there are so many new names that I’m not even gonna try to sort that out. We lose our DLine coach to Oregon and I think he will be missed, our line play was better with him. On Special teams we signed like two or three scholly kickers/punters/long snappers because everyone was terrible last year. I’m probably leaving out some obvious things but I did this for you herb.burdette , enjoy.
This is something that would happen to Nebraska nowadays. I mean, we’d have to be willing to do something rogue (which isn’t happening), but I could see myself getting fired up in Memorial then Nebraska gives up a KRTD on the opening kick.
I watched the first minute of that video and immediately thought frick the B10, give me Colorado, Mizzou, and K-State back.
Yes, as a backup QB, he once came off the bench due to the starter being injured. He had a 27-6 lead, but went 1/10 for 13 yards and an interception in a 34-27 loss. The opposing team’s coach was an Ohio State alum who then went on an obscenity-laden tirade with a live mike about how his fans could kiss his ass after Ohio State hired him.
I’ll say one thing in defense, if there was actual tackling the run game would look better, but just absolutely no flow. Just need to shut everything down and start over. Remove everything, coaches, traditions, toilets.
This has actually been my thought process as well. Mickey was promised the interim job with potential for hire.
spring games mean literally nothing in terms of our projection for the season. I'm still going with 4 wins because fuck Frost, it doesn't matter how many good transfers we bring in, he'll find a way to lose us half a dozen close games as usual.
This. Spring games mean jack. Took me way too long to finally come that conclusion. Scoot saying afterward we didn’t show much because Northwestern might be watching had me laughing, though. Such a predictable comment that it was almost comforting.
