Not similar enough thematically to football imo
Look at the brains on this guy. Salute
Bant>Heart. Good riddance.
USC bout to fuck with Bama
not because of Casey Rogers, because that’s how you croot
I’m getting old
If they could work out a deal to use that massive digital billboard to put the croot’s name/picture on the building they’d really have a stew brewin
Seems to enjoy the "city lifestyle"
No joke who the fuck do we have for a DL this year? The big feller from out AZ way and? Is Ben Stille still somehow on the team?
"Remember the tim Ross Dzuris started at DE for us? Ha ha what absurd circumstances that will surely never reoccur"
-ol pnkskrt ca. 4 years ago
Is that 40 year old marine still on the team?
That was like 10 years ago because I played against that dude in high school, unless it was a brother or cousin or something.
Also how is "mount Mick" lookin out there? He lining up next to the raccoon killer or what?
As another tweeter pointed out... thats a spring game. ..
I bet Casey Rogers wins more games next year than we do and for that I can’t blame him
He has a shot at winning more next season than he would in 2-3 years as a starter at Nebraska
Fan base continues to be an absolute embarrassment
Our fans obsession with attendance kills me every time. I understand it’s about all we have these days, but holy shit I’d say most players have about 10 things on the list higher than spring game attendance.
Pretty sure I saw a tweet that said other than Ty Robinson, Austin Allen had more career tackles than every other DL we have left.
So what you’re saying is not only are we gonna be young, but also very white, and unskilled?
Just like the 90s if you ask 90% of our fanbase
Ah the 90s where we recruited 50 kids a year, most with offers from everyone in the country, then the beautiful Prop 48 kids that were pretty much a modern day top 25 of juco players.
But walk ons and fullbacks!!!!
If only we had a coach that could develop talent or recruit it or keep it.
yea our QBs did throw a lot of picks the last 4 years.
How many games does frost coach in 2022?
I know none of it is good, but that transfer out of TCU according to Sipple (bobot) has a $500,000 NIL deal at Nebraska.
Forgot that bobot bit. Was top tier trolling
I clicked on his twitter and didn't realize P. Payne also transferred.
do we know where/what it's for?
I thought the Volleyball team would get the best NIL deals, but 500k is a lot.
I think football will always get the best deals just because. Initially everyone got excited about who had social media followers and all that which will work to an extent for some athletes. But I also think, there’s a lot of deals in place where it’s all just “legal” pay to play now. A booster/donor could give a guy $100K, for what? Who knows…
It will be interesting in a few years if some people feel like they want “more” from their money. Obviously the pre-NIL bagmen won’t care but will some donor/business decide they actually want to get something that helps their side out of the deal? Or do they just like being able to write off an expense for their company and that’s enough.
I was guessing some would be on social media, but in the Nebraska market I was thinking more TV ads or short clips they can upload to FB or farmersonly. Maybe meet and greets at a sports store or car dealership.
Yeah what I meant was initially everyone thought it’d really depend on social media following, basically like “influencers” get paid for ads, but I don’t think the big NIL deals will even matter. If a team wants a player they’ll get the money and who knows what the expectation for a return will even be. Could be a case where a guy gets paid $100K to make one post on Instagram and that’s the “service provided” to earn his money.
Ya, I get what you're saying. It can now be legitimized instead of just dropping off a bag. Hopefully Buffet will distribute some of his wealth to our basketball team so we can win some games.
What? Did he do a single thing for us ever at all?
Having spent the last 10 years on the west coast the idea of spending a day, on a weekend, going to a spring game is high comedy.
tbh, when I move back to Nebraska I can think of about 10k things I’d rather do as well.
‘practice, we talkin’ bout practice. Not the game!’
(I’m pretty close to finding 10k things I’d rather do than watch the game but I like self-infliction of pain.)
Worst coast bant hear
If we didn’t have two decades of futility I’d legit still be excited about the spring game like I used to but all that is dead now
Make sure to tell Nebraskans about all the super authentic quirks you miss about Portland when you move back Oz
I’ve only attended a few, but I would assume most people who go also look at it as an excuse to get outside, tailgate, go to the Railyard or whatever it is they do after being inside the previous 3-4 months due to winter. If I look at it that way I guess it makes more sense, than just going to watch the actual “game”. Plus I’m sure a lot of people take their kids either for cost reasons or just the fact they don’t want to bring them to a real game they actually want to watch.
No one gives a shit 50k+ people show up to a spring game if you are winning 3 games a year.
I think that’s one of just a few places in the country that features things to do on a Saturday though.
The nice thing of not having a ton of things going on is you can get stuff done around your house.
This weekend we have:
Sunfest (Palm Beach): Average to Below-Average artists -- Sam Hunt, GooGoo Dolls, Nelly!, Lil Wayne, etc.
Miami Beach Polo World Cup
Fort Lauderdale Air Show
Game 7 of Miami Heat vs Hawks (if it goes to 7)
I'll probably only go to the air show though. My brothers boat is down there, so I'll watch it from there. If there's a game 7 (doubtful), a friend already has tix and I'd go with him.
In a couple weeks I'll be going to the Formula 1 - Miami Grand Prix.
Edit - just read this and my intention was to show all the stuff going on and how I feel pressure to go to events and it would be nice to not have as much going on. Not to brag.
im going to remember this the next time you complain about the cold and games starting too late.
100% will miss being able to go sking and to the beach the next day and only wearing a winter jacket on days I go skiing.
I’ll also miss not having to choose from the lesser evil in politics and mostly being able to walk down the street and legally get weed while I make a sports bet from my phone with the tax money going to the state.
the wine is pretty damn good as well.
