Is it a shame that we have seen progress in year four when our recruiting has been the worst is been in 20+ years. I really want to believe.
How would you have liked for them to rule on that? I know it looked at the beginning like the Husker had it but that’s not how fumbles are awarded in a pileup.
I’m not sure anything chaps my ass more than knowing we are every bit as talented as Iowa but they win by doing all the little things correct & create their own luck. We do all the little things wrong & find ways to do the opposite. I don’t know what it is anymore. But we have found ways to not dot our I’s and we don’t know how to cross a t. We tried to **change** it a few games into this year and that’s not when you can. You do that shit in spring. You win close games at that time, not with some stern lectures.
It’s a lot of smoke and mirrors due to all these fifth and sixth year seniors on defense. Even if we turned a corner and won some of these close ones, not sure it really makes a difference next year
So really, all this game did was: 1. cement Farts as our coach for next year, with yet another losing record. 2. Cement Harbaugh as the #Michigan Wolverines coach for another year, though they'll undoubtedly lose the division and tOSU game again. No one won we all suck and everything sucks and I feel bad and sorry and I'm not sure why or to whom
The main thing that seems to have improved this year is 1. Yanking guys who just aren’t getting it done 2. Some of that offensive creativity and adjustment frost was known for. If he’s sticking around, need to fix 3, which is getting some of these clowns off the staff and paying some top tier dudes
The pay isn’t the huge thing, but Trev (new AD) has (and I think will) put his foot down with a full-time special teams coach and other shit. It’s obvious some things about the team and the way shit is run have already changed. I think it’s become more buttoned up. I truly, actually believe that. It’s down to Trev to convince Frost that he needs to change some things. He can’t be a lazy fuck that gets drunk. He can’t get by with being smarter. The basics have or happen or he is Gone. I don’t think he fires him after this season but our only saving grace is Trev doesn’t take shit. He just doesn’t seem to do that. But it’s hard to turn that around at the end of summer/fall. Trev is the reason we don’t have covid issues. We need that kind of ‘fuck you, this is my boat,’ type of leadership.
It wasn’t really the money with us either, but it’s always a thing sports press is going to write about when you’re losing. When people were looking for Michigan to fire Harbaugh the argument was “he isn’t going to get us over the hump - we need a change” vs “who are we going to hire that’s better?” Keeping Harbaugh with a pay cut seemed to be the midpoint of those two positions that made people mostly okay with keeping him another year. Also, turning his contract into one that would be easier to bail on after one season seemed to refocus Jim. Got a bunch of new young assistants and we got animated Harbaugh that actually seems invested in the games back on the sideline.
Yeah see your program still has standards. I'm gonna have a fight with my dad tomorrow about how it's not ok to have 4 losing seasons in a row.
Yea, no. I won’t get into it, but absolutely not with Trev. I truly think he will force Frost into some changes while talking in the back channels. Trev will absolutely not take any shit from anybody. Could he make the wrong decision? Sure, but it’s not because he ‘takes shit.’ If that’s your belief you have ignored everything he has done his entire career and everything they have done since he got to Nebraska (do you think the team just got to a 90%+ vaxxed rate by accident….)
Yea, yea. He's been doing some good stuff, I agree. Clearly, he's attempting to manage Frost, when Moos did absolutely nothing of the sort. And that's all cool and good, but at the end of this year, there will be ZERO justification for keeping a guy who just finished his fourth losing season. If that happens, that is taking a whole lot of shit.
This is shaping up to be the most miserable season of his tenure. Showing progress, but for what he gets paid, we deserve better
Fuck what he gets paid. This is Nebraska and we're on our way to our 4th straight losing season. How can anyone possibly think there are "buts?" We're not a special teams coach away from winning the B1G ffs
The P word will be cited by Alberts at the end of the season when frost is retained, I almost guarantee it. I think the only thing that could potentially change that would be Ls to both Minnesota and Purdue.
All’s I can say is it seems Lord Satan Osborne has grown even stronger despite a very clear antidote to his wicked schemes. Looks like I’ll just need to keep lifting Coach Farts up in prayer that no further blood need be shed.
I think we have reached peak Frost. All downhill from here. No bowl game. No new assistants next year. He will be gone. It it time to turn the page.
I feel like this season (minus Illinois) is just a situation where “your best isn’t good enough”. It’s year four, we have a 4 year QB, some OK talent at WR and RB. The defense is legit, but what happens when we’re replacing a QB, Toure, half our D with god knows what and our 75th rated class. I think Frost gets one more year but you run the risk of back to back shitty recruiting classes and another job saving 6-6 campaign.
Unless the wheels completely fall off, Frost isn’t getting fired. Now next year when all the talent is gone might be a different story.
Every thing was set up for us to win this game. For the first time in a decade I was very confident we’d beat a top 15 team and at the end things were right in front of us to make it a reality. I don’t think we are good. But sometimes situations set up for a bad team to get a big win. See literally every other power 5 school on the planet. Even the Washington State’s of the world show up every 5 years and beat a team they shouldn’t. Then I was harshly reminded I was acting like a sweet summer child. We almost beat 3 good teams. We lost to them. We are also the high water mark for Illinois in year 1 of a complete tear down. Football results are binary. W or L. 3 almost Ws don’t make an actual W. Adrian may have thrown double digit games with final couple minute fumbles in his career. Like at this point I’m not sure if he has won or lost us more games but given the fact we’ve lost more games than won in his tenure I’m going to say it’s the latter. how is this motherfucker not protecting the ball like his first born in the final quarter. Maybe 25-30 more ball security blunders and he will start to realize it’s important!
Pass interference: Not pass interference: Really top notch officiating is another huge benefit along with quality scheduling the Big Ten conference has to offer.
The delay of game penalty against Reimer. What was the term he used again?? And the debacle with Jim’s timeout and the fourth down spot. It was so obviously a first down from the get-go but these players’ psyches are too paper fragile to withstand that kind of officiating fuckery.
If I remember the stat correctly, after last night there has been 17-18 possessions in the Frost era where Nebraska gets the ball with a chance to win or tie the game on their last possession. They scored on two of them and only one of them was to win the game (NW where the last second FG barely went over the cross bar). I believe Martinez has been the QB for like 14-15 of the possessions, the one win he wasn’t the QB. I know he’s dealt with a ton of crap and has handled it as well as any college kid could, but it almost seems impossible how he morphs into a completely different player on the majority of the drives with less than 2:00.
Open Twitter, see every chump talk about “durr the boys played hard” and immediately get angry all over again. I hate this.
I don’t follow it, but do know the current recruiting ranking. That said where are we at with recruits? Are we in on kids that are making late decisions (NU crystal balls)?
We literally have nothing for this current class left out there. They’ve made some JUCO offers but those guys already have numerous offers, and most likely will not come here.
For me, what’s not happening in recruiting is more alarming than the finding ways to lose. Frost is going to be a good coach after Bama, but it’s not in the cards for us at this point.
Last night was maybe the first time I remember Frost/the offense actually adjusting at half and it worked. At halftime I figured it was going to be a 20-3 loss just because the O looked so bad in the first half. I’ll give him credit for getting some stuff going on O the last two weeks. With the recruiting being so bad though, it’s just hard to see this work out. Maybe too little too late in terms of on the field coaching at this point.
Ol pavelk n me got a good hoot outta #Michigan Wolverines ice-veined kicker, hardly blinking, cooly driving the dagger into us, after which camera pans to our kicker who looks like an inbred coyote, visibly tweaking on the sidelines
