It wasn’t until recently that I’d see people’s tweets pop up on “suggested” or “related” Husker stuff, but there’s a few I’ll scroll their timelines just to see how quick I can be annoyed/angered.
Reading the first 5 replies to anything from Nebraska Football’s Twitter is enough for me to stay away from those fans
Nebraska fandom twitter is the stupidest thing. This was tweeted seriously, meanwhile he doesn't see the irony in belonging to a group that no matter what happens is happy and content to have a losing record for as long as they live.
I've come to the conclusion after many years of observation that people have varying opinions on things.
I am mostly for winning. Some for Lane Kiffin-like cheeky shenanigans. Some for bag men. But mostly winning.
I took it to mean his players are bought in. They had a bunch of injured guys and the backups still feel like they're a vital part of the team because of the culture they've built. Frost on the other hand has a toxic culture and superior talent (albeit on the bench). Minn won because they have something to believe in and play for. Our players play because they have to. I'm sure most don't even enjoy playing football anymore.
I guess a whole bunch of gopher fans want Fleck gone? And Star Trib column comes out this AM ripping Fleck for his post-game comments? Wtf do they think they can reasonably expect as a HC?
That he's just basically laying bare his own inadequacies as a recruiter and insulting his own players.
Oh what did Fleck say? He went on this big tirade about how the culture of MN beat Nebraska's "skill/talent"
I don’t know if I agree that Frost has developed a toxic culture. I know there are rumors about his frat brothers he has on staff, but this year seems like the first time there appears to be unity within the locker room. The tough thing is that unity is going to break quickly after a bad loss to Minne, the media/fans being (rightfully) pissed off, and a bye week to simmer in the negativity.
Same shit I heard in HS. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard. blow me. We have the talent, we don’t have the coaching. Don’t blame this on the kids when it’s been a shit show from the start.
I feel like the word “toxic” is overused these days so I won’t go that far, and I’m only speaking based on my own opinion and from what we’ve all witnessed as fans. I did give the team credit for showing up and fighting in those big games (OU, MSU, Michigan) especially after the first game. I don’t doubt there’s buy-in from most of the team. That said, while “Frost has won everywhere he’s been” he also seems like he doesn’t know how to respond to adversity. He bailed on Stanford, still brings up Frankie London, has made some of the wildest excuses ever since coming here. Sometimes it seems like the cockiness and lack of accountability has trickled down to the team. He loves to talk about how close they are after those close losses, which to an extent is on paper an improvement, but when you consistently talk about that and not “we didn’t win” I can see why the team gets complacent or overconfident and lays an egg vs Minnesota or whoever other terrible team we “play down” to.
I don't think it's a toxic culture but it's most certainly not a winning culture. It's a losing culture where they expect to lose.
The whole row the boat thing is cringeworthy and he had an affair after losing his son. Some say row the boat is about affair recovery? either way, he’s a good coach, but fuck him.
To me it's an excuse culture. Listen to the excuses he had before game. One he kept saying is, "they're coming off a bye week". Early road game. He always has dumb ass excuses after the game and then does weak "point the thumb, not the finger". Scoot McFartz needs to go.
the entire thing is absolutely perfection. ‘What kind of idiot would pick this team to score 38.’ the ending is perfection, but my favorite line is at the beginning. ‘My wife text me, what’s your plan? Honestly, my plan is to walk into a fucking bus.’
Mmmm. I didn't think your recruiting could be that bad but then I noticed Karl and his Invalids were ranked quite a bit higher and it blew my mind. What thee actual fuck. Frost fucking sucks.
I think we all feel bad for you because you're good people, and all you want is to husk like a motherfucker and the bad man won't let you.
Nebraska has a spectacularly bad batting average at the ones representing this state from the football coach to the governor of being huge shitheads that also suck ball sack at their job.
