Given the short winning streak, I was superstitiously trying to avoid posting. Now that we've lost, :sweep::sweep::sweep: Seattle. :loldog:

Hughes to the pen for Gibson coming off the DL. Get it together Hughes.

Buxton called up to replace Danny Santana who is going to the DL. He was doing work in Rochester. We need him to finally do it at the MLB level.

Kohl Stewart, the Twins’ No. 1 draft pick and fourth overall in 2013, was promoted to Class AA Chattanooga. Stewart, a righthanded pitcher, had a 2.61 ERA in nine starts at Class A Fort Myers and was personally scouted by GM Terry Ryan last week.

At the time that you posted this (I missed it for some reason), the "closer", for lack of a better term, had twice as many wins as any starting pitcher. Let that sink in.

Hell of a way to end the game on Saturday, though. A double play on a delayed double steal . . . awesome ending.

I thought about making a joke about that at the time. With all of his blown saves, he had ample opportunity to luck in to a few wins.

If they don't forget how to play baseball during the break, 65-70 wins is a real possibility.

Terry did a lot for the organization for a long time. But it's quite clear new blood and a totally new regime is completely necessary. Do the Pohlads have the guts to look outside the organization? I sure hope so.

Happy to see Ryan gone but now I really hope the Pohlads find a replacement OUTSIDE the organization. I think a new thought process is what we need, not more of the same crap

With Ryan now gone, Im interested to see what moves we make before the deadline. Seems like some trade pieces we have are doing well all of a sudden like Santana and Milone (at least his start last night).

Just when Berrios is looking like he's going to get called up, all of our starters suddenly go on a hot streak.

Maybe they need that kind of motivation.

It's weird that I've heard Abad and Zukes are among the players getting the most looks, and Santana isn't getting much attention.

If the Twins are smart they will move Nunez. Jorge Polanco will not have any more options after this year, so I would move Nunez and get something in return. If Polanco doesn't work out it would be time to have Escobar as a placeholder until Gordon is ready.

I don't follow prospects like I used to so is the return we got for Nunez good?

Yes, he is a top 100 guy according to BA. MLB Pipeline has him as the 7th best prospect in the Giants' system. Considering Nunez is having a career year and doesn't look like he will be a perennial All-Star and this opens up ABs for Jorge Polanco, it seems like a no brainer.

I haven't had a chance to look at the detail on the all the trades. Thoughts?

Nice 3 HR game for Kepler. He is really emerging. That is 14 on the season and his average is up to .256.

Trades were all positive, IMO. Santiago gives the Twins a chance to have a decent pitcher and if he doesn't resign after 2017, they would have a higher chance at receiving a compensation pick from him instead of Nolasco.

Light for Abad, who knows with relievers.

Disappointed they didn't move Suzuki or Santana but the 3 deals they did make were good deals. If they didn't receive good offers for Santana or Suzuki then they did the best thing by holding on to them.

They couldn't deal Suzuki right now because they've got no one to back him up. Centeno's a likeable guy and all, but he's not an everyday catcher and Murphy has been batting a cool .200 down in Rochester. Let Kurt and his axe handle bats make some hay while his sun is shining and deal him in the offseason if his stock goes up.

Also, the great Buxton experiment has proven to be a colossal failure. They should have moved him.

I do disagree here. While I think they totally have mismanaged his career, both by bungled call-ups and by having nobody there before he was ready, I think giving up on him would be a colossal failure.

He's still very young and has talent through the roof. His hitting problems are mental more than physical.

You're right. I suppose I was just being a little reactionary, especially seeing young guys like Kepler doing so well.

To your point, I was fishing with Gene Glynn a few years ago when he was still the manager in Rochester. We were asking him why Buxton wasn't getting moved up faster. He was very clear that a kid with his talent and potential could be ruined by calling him up too early. It seems like that's what happened.

His problem seems to be the MLB curve ball. He doesn't have a problem with what he sees in AAA but he can't handle the ones at the next level (yet ).

What a great moment that was when Kirby hit that.

My dad and I were at Game 1. We had tickets to all 4 home games, but decided to go to the first one and scalp the rest.

My allergies always seem to act up whenever I see a replay of Kirby's homer and hear Jack Buck say "And we'll see you tomorrow night!"

Although I was really young I still have so many great memories of that 1991 team. I wish I still liked baseball as much as I did when I was a kid...it really has faded. That probably has a lot to do with the current state of the Twins. Seeing Kirby always brings out the worst in allergies.

Same here. I had a VHS of the highlights of the 91 series and probably watched it over 100 times before I turned 10 years old. I fucking loved the twins. I probably watched five full games this year...

If anybody is bored tonight, 25 years ago we saw one of the greatest game 7 pitching performances of all time:

If you don't have that kind of time, here is the news report from WCCO after the game.

So what are we feeling here, dogs?

I gotta admit I'm the least intrigued as I've been in years.

Glad to have a new regime, but it seems unlikely that we'll see the fruits of their efforts for a couple years yet.
