The family and law firm basically fucked Hampton County for the last 50 years. The county is one of the poorest in the state thanks in some part to the Murdaughs. No businesses would operate in Hampton for fear of lawsuit. The payouts are abnormally large and they law firm probably tempered with juries and judges.

I think the 8:44 - 9:02 timeline really screwed him. The fact that he originally lied about being at the kennels when he would have had no reason to unless he had knowledge of when the deaths occurred, also did him in.

Also believe SLED didn’t do the best job and jurors were absolutely ready to go, but there was plenty of evidence to come back with a guilty verdict.

Guessing that's a regional thing because I've never heard it pronounced Elec

 

In and around I-95 in SC is a weird place man

 

He very well may pronounce it as Elec, but as someone who has seen Judge Sanders speak many times, he was always introduced with it pronounced as Alex. Could easily be wrong, but he never corrected it.
