So Kevin Hart acting my age set was great, especially for those of us entering middle age and leaving 30s three of the plastic cup boys warmed up, two were great, one was still stuck on Covid and vax jokes , 2021 called, those have been beat to death , take it or don’t, just got my sixth, weird to be proud about not and chastising those who get it tried to tie it into Tuskegee and it just didn’t land and yes I know the fucked up history of what was done to our guys
Anyone seen Seinfeld perform lately? I enjoy the show but haven't really listened to much of his standup material. He's gonna be at the Hard Rock this coming weekend and I'll be in the Ft Lauderdale area that same time. Considering going but kinda worried he's just phoning it in at this point in his life
I can't imagine it'll be good. He didn't make it his personality but he did whine a bit not long ago about how he can perform on college campuses anymore because kids are too easily offended now, nevermind that his material is airplane food jokes.
Him talking about being easily offended and we need more alphas while he preyed on a high school girl when he was one of the most famous people in the world is whats wrong with this world
For whatever little it’s worth, he did kinda walk that back. Saw him at the fox a long while back (over 10 years), it was fun but not worth the $. nothing rehashed but it’s exactly what you’d expect
Burr teetered on RWNJ with all the metoo cancel culture shit but has really redeemed himself with the last year or two of awareness. I’m back on the Billy Ball Bag train.
I like that, more than other comedians / celebs, he's really grabbed onto the luigi mangione flag while others have moved on / shut up
I know, but he’s funny enough for me to give a little leeway. Another project like Old Dads and I might reconsider.
Wait how did you get both sides out of that? He's saying we're being divided by bullshit issues while the billionaire class wages war on everyone.
Bill hasn't really changed in 20+ years. He's basically the real life Ron Swanson and always has been. He hates everyone. And sometimes that makes him sound like a liberal and sometimes that makes him sound MAGA. People always try to project their politics on him and it's kind of weird. Reading right wingers on twitter who never actually listened to what he was saying act like Bill's wife turned him #woke is always funny to me.
Nothing to do with politics imo. I disagree that he hasn’t changed. He picks his words more carefully in 2025 than he did in 2015. The MM podcast is definitely less abrasive now than it was back in the day. IIRC his Red Rocks special was heavy on cancel culture shit and he’s backed down from a lot of that the last year or two. He still riffs unfiltered in most settings, but the anger/criticism is more precise.
Burr's said hes proud his kids know that they're loved & they arent afraid of him. From a guy who grew up in 70s massachusetts with a raging dad.... Thats a guy who's done a shit ton of therapy work
I took the RWNJ thing to mean politics, but if you didn't mean it that way than I just misread what you were saying. I agree that his cancel culture stuff for a couple years was really bad, but I don't think that was ever a RWNJ thing. He just doesn't like people telling him what to do and couldn't get over that part of it for a while. I'm guessing he either realized it was hurting his comedy or he heard enough other comedians complaining about it that he realized it wasn't funny or interesting. Either way, I'm glad he pivoted out of that. There definitely is a big part of the audience (on both sides) that likes to try to use his rants or bits to project their politics on him, though. And I don't think that part of him has changed much over the years. I think a lot of right wingers just heard his bits and thought he was one of them because they weren't paying enough attention, just like there are liberals who think he's one of them and then get mad when he goes on SNL and rants about women thinking it's some sort of betrayal.
Thinking on this last year and Bill Burr is the person who’d I picked to have a “Rogan” impact. He’s not someone the DNC created in a lab, he’s authentic, and already has a big following. Is he gonna say some shit that’s insensitive, yes. I always enjoy him in other people’s podcasts and everyone seems to love him personally. Contrast that with Rogan and it felt like other comics just kissed joes ass bc of the podcast appearances.
Burr's special is good. I'm sure some people will have problems with a few choice words in it but it's a really solid hour.
