I saw Bill Burr when he was here in Atlanta and it was incredible. I'm excited to watch it on Netflix. Chris Rock will be here in a few months and I'm really curious to see how good he is after a pretty long layoff.
Saw Burr in Sac last year, killed for 90+ minutes. Brauniger's "shovel fighter" is still my favorite bit of his. Looking forward to this year's offerings
Missed out on seeing Bill Burr at the Annual Patrice O'Neal Benefit last year... still was a stacked show. Louis CK filled in for Burr and also had Rich Vos, Dave Attell, Artie Lange and Jim Norton performing.
What did everyone think of Bill Burr's new special? He definitely tried to branch out and try some new techniques and I thought some bits were hilarious while a couple kind of missed the mark. Not my favorite of his but I liked he is trying something new and trying to constantly come up with nee material.
Rewatching New in Town for the first time in a while...Mulaney really is an all timer in the stand up department...about to watch Comeback Kid and that may be my favorite stand up ever.
New Mike Birbiglia show on Netflix. I enjoyed it but it wasn't as good as My Girlfriend's Boyfriend IMO. His crowd interaction was better though.
Watched Carmichael's new release "8" a couple weeks ago and it was dark as fuck but absolutely hilarious. he's got great delivery big fan
Watched tonight and it's definitely my least favorite of his from the past ten years. It had its moments and is better than most comedians put out but not up to his normal standards. Can't stay on top forever.
It's weird, he doesn't get a lot of giant laughs from the crowd either. This shouldn't have been a special.
I have a 4 year old son and was laughing my ass off at the bit about being caught jerking off, and my wife was straight faced as fuck, pretending that shit wasn't true.
I fell asleep half way through the Lucas Brothers on Netflix last night, but was quite enjoying their shtick and am stoked to continue watching it. Do recommend.
Finished the Louie CK yesterday. First half was horrible, second half was solid but not enough to compensate for how bad the first half was
He's done shock comedy plenty of times before, and it's funny. He makes light of fucked up topics in a manner that is funny. Therefore...I don't care if he wants to open with abortion. Do that shit. The problem was...it wasn't funny. It fell super flat, and then it feels like you're doing an abortion bit just for the shock, instead of making a shocking topic funny.
Oh, and following up on this. The only other one of his specials I've ever seen was his first, back when the Wii was big. His kid was still super little, so it's gotta be 8ish years ago. Was one of my favorite standups for a really long time though. He did Chelsea Handler's show a few times back when she used to do a panel bit, but I haven't seen him on anything in years. Been meaning to see if he writes for a show or something.
Finally watched Jarrod Carmichael's first special, Love at the Store. Fantastic, it's on HBO Go if you're interested.
Tracy Morgan's new special on Netflix is wonderful. Starts out just firing, the middle lags slightly, and then he tells a joke about fucking a 300lb. bitch in high school and I was absolutely dying. He's hilarious and I'm so glad he has recovered from that horrible accident.
