IIRC, David Nied was the Rockies first pick in their expansion draft to join the league. I had just moved to Denver before that draft when Coors Field was a hole in the ground across the street from the iconic El Chapultepec jazz dive bar we went to somewhat often.
one time a couple years back I went back and looked year by year starting with 1985 to see who the Tigers took and who else went in the 1st round....some brutal whiffs like the year we drafted some scrub catcher and Craig Biggio was taken like 2-3 picks later. Something similar happened when we drafted some bum RHP and Matt Morris and Roy Halladay were the next 2 RHPs taken painful exercise, don't recommend
Sounds painful, Tigers have done a lot of bad drafting. I only remember Matt Wheatland b/c of how mad I was they took him (no offense, Matt). Speaking of Biggio, I saw him on TV yesterday at Dodger Stadium watching his son, Cavan, who was just traded there. The designer camo vest was odd looking in the LA crowd.
In honor of Todd Jones calling Delgado the worst firstbasemen he ever played with during a Tigers broadcast this week.
