They love each other but cant offer each other the lifestyle/wealth/ they desire and protection that comes w it. I think
Loved Rob changing from the finance bro haircut to the tech bro haircut at the end wonderful season 10/10
The Ringer Prestige and The Watch. Wouldnt be surprised if the watch has an interview w the show runners
I think this is the correct read. They’ve really been hammering home the class divide between yas and rob the last two episodes. Her ending up with Henry, even though she’s coming to realize she does love Rob, is pragmatic (her words) for two reasons. Primarily it ensures that his media mogul uncle will protect her from salacious coverage, but also more cynically because it protects her wealth. She doesn’t really want to have to struggle
Then there's the convo Harper and Eric had. Wealth is important but it doesnt make you loved. Close but its not love Or something like that
I’m pretty curious to see if all of the main cast return for season 4. I think a lot of the leads are transitioning to film, so they’ll probably have some scheduling issues. That’s the reason Gus wasn’t on this season, but they built in an avenue for him to return in California with Rob. With the show almost certainly pivoting primarily to the states, it makes sense if Eric/ Yas either aren’t in the show or are in it in a much smaller capacity.
It's correct. She flipped when she saw the older lady with kids in the car at the gas station. She felt like that was her future if she stayed with him but knew she could never do that and always needed the wealthy aspect. She had sex with him as a goodbye.
It really did feel like a series finale. I thought it was great. The rob/yas stuff was gut wrenching. My take was it was more than Yas just craving ultra wealth. Not being able to confront her own abuse and knowing the uncle could shield the world from knowing more about her father’s abuses, thus not having to confront them. Will kinda miss them all just trying to trade and navigate that world. The whole shorting only “bad” companies seems kinda meh to me
I don’t think that’s actually going to happen fwiw. I think that’s Harper just saying what she thinks Otto wants to hear so she can get away from her now semi-healthy work environment and get bankrolled to do toxic chicanery with bloom stateside
Waking up today I wished it was the series finale. Idk where they go from here. I liked a lot of the endings for the characters, although I didn’t love the order in which it happened in the episode. Only result I kinda rolled my eyes at was Rishi.
All the best shows do this imo. Completely blow things up and leaves you wondering what will come next. And how they could possibly top it. Then they do
The guy Rob was pitching at the end was Greg from Season 1 (got fired after getting fucked up at the Christmas party and ran through the glass door)
I dont think so, they didnt explicitly say it but I feel like there was a time jump at the end when they were wrapping up each character so she should have been showing at the end of the ep, although I guess maybe it wasnt 6 months and maybe it was a month so idk
my first thought too although she had already sent out wedding invites and was drinking so if she’s pregnant she doesn’t know it
A really great season but I don't think they needed to do a Yaz has been a victim of a pedophile ring and killing rishis wife. Starts to get a bit cartoonish. Can't wait to see what characters we get back next year.
That would have been a very good series finale. It probably was going to be until this season did pretty good numbers. The Rob/Yas thing was absolutely heartbreaking, Rob is so likable and maybe the only relatable character on the show. At the same time, I'm glad they didn't do the happily ever after thing.
He's better off imo...I've seen the Yas type (minus the generational wealth) and they're a succubus 9/10 times.
worthwhile listen: The Watch on Ringer. They do an interview with the showrunners, who just signed an overall deal with HBO
I forgot to come back to this - I was only partially correct. I listened to the show runner interview. Yas didnt tell Rob she was going to marry Henry. He found out at the dinner. Insane and what an incredibly bitchy move. Would be one thing if it was understood between the two of them, and I guess it is. But for her to not give him a head's up. Brutal. Which brings me to a long term sentiment ive always had - Why the hell does Rob love her? At first I get the infatuation, but after that drops away , she's always treated you like shit and taken you for granted.
Man, I haven’t watched the finale yet but I love this show so much and particularly Ken Leung as Eric. Flipping through the photos on his IMDb is wild. He has been in everything.
Finally watched finale. I love the show so much, that was incredible. The Rishi storyline was so good. His focus episode was an all timer. Yaz is an incredible character and even better person. Harper is a bad and you’re supposed to hate her. Greta character. I’ve never understood why some can’t differentiate that about tv characters a la AJ Soprano. That’s the point. Sweet pea and the other guy are awesome. I can’t wait to see what they do when they move to New York with Harper next season, Rob will be in California and Eric will end up working for Harp. 10/10
Right, but you still need to root for her. They can be immoral awful people, like don Draper, and still root for them. Slapping and getting a sexual/incest abuse victim fired was a low point for Harper. It didn’t work without showing how flawed Yas was in the finale. But i think the show did a really good job pulling it off.
On a rewatch I was more engrossed in the Clement storyline, he's a functioning heroin addict who lies about everything to appear more "posh" (I think thats the term). How he managed to get where he is (was) seems fascinating. Harper literally stumbling into insanely secret info thanks to her roommate or in the bathroom is just too much.
