Who has them and how much do you use them? I'm about to get one installed in my condo, and want to hear how everyone uses them. I went with the Sunlighten Signature I. The celliant towels a waste of money?
Oh you went the fancy full-install route. But yea I use mine all the time especially if I was drinking the night before.
I had that same one years ago. Really wish I had an actual sauna though because like you said that shit is clutch post drinking.
Even if the science behind hot/cold therapy isn't exactly encouraging, the endorphin rush you get after both alone makes it worth it
Being able to go sit in the sauna is one of the things I miss the most. It’s just not feasible with Covid so I haven’t been since all the shit started. They had them closed for the longest time and not sure if they reopened them or not at the gym honestly.
I never drink a lot of beer but I did last night watching the game. A gallon of water and a half hour in a sauna sounds amazing.
I didn't think anything of it at the time, but when we moved into our house it already had a sauna in it. It probably sat unused for easily 5 years before I randomly decided to fire it up and jump in. Now I can sit at 170 for 20-30 minutes a couple times a week and I feel like a million bucks after.
That’s ballin’. My friends parents had one in their house when we were kids. I always say that when I finally break down and buy a house I’m putting in a gym and a sauna.
Our old apt complex used to have an awesome sauna setup and that shit got shut down with the quickness once Covid hit - miss that thing.
The one I had didn’t have the zippers for your arms. So once I was zipped in I was stuck. Bought a bottle of eucalyptus oil to put a few drops in the water and I’d duck my head down into the thing and use a towel to block the head hole for as long as I could take it. No clue what happened to that thing.
I haven't read the science on this but I was told I was a moron for bringing my phone into the sauna - which is kind of not an option for me to be away from my phone - so the arms out head out sauna has worked perfectly even though it looks like a halloween costume.
I used to take mine into the sauna and it messed up my charging port. The moisture just corroded the hell out of it and it stoped being able to charge.
Probably not the best advice, but I always take mine in with me. Usually my iPad "too hot to function" screen pops up right around the 20 minute mark anyway so that's when I get out
I used to ziplock bag it when I had a work blackberry - but that shit doesn't work with iPhones. I'm sure there is some amazing cover that is sauna proof that I haven't looked into yet.
Guys, don't take electronics into extremely hot and humid places if you want them to continue to work. Or else you'll have to put them into an entire grain silo filled with rice to fix them.
Pre pandemic my gym had both a “dry” sauna and a “wet” sauna/steam room. Much prefer the steam sauna to the dry one, but both were amazing. There is some basic science that they have some activation of the innate immune system, but it’s most pseudoscience-y with not much real evidence at all. I honestly don’t care, feels amazing. need to look into the home version, thanks OP!
These infrared saunas are just fine for the sweating it out part, but it’s just not a full sauna experience without the man on man action.
About to start some sauna working out this week. Been something I’ve been wanting to try. Not sure how much more it helps, but I would think it has to burn more calories.
It has to. If there’s no one in there I’ll do step ups on the bench. It’s pretty brutal but you’re heart rate gets up pretty quick and you just sweat like crazy.
i went in around 110 degrees and it was still warming up since it was my first time. Got as hot as 123. After a few times they say a good temp is 130 for up to 40 mins, but all depends on the individual
Whew. 40 mins would be brutal but you’d feel great afterwards. I looked at some last night that have speakers in them so it wouldn’t be so bad if you listened to a podcast or something to make the time go by.
Yeah, mine has bluetooth. I just had spotify going and left my apple watch on to skip songs. I will do podcasts as well because I am sure the heat isnt great for the watch either. Didnt sweat too much which they said was going to be the case when just starting. Going to do some cardio for 30 mins beforehand tonight as it warms up and see how the sweat comes.
