Think I have decided on my 1st. Some variation of this. Haven't decided if I want it on my delt or pec. Also don't know about color or grayscale. Want to eventually do a 1/4 sleeve, delt and pec and have them flow together.
I have looked at a couple online and will be contacting them to set up a consultation. I have seen pieces in their portfolio that look like they would be able to handle what I am looking for as far as style and will also be able to fill in the blanks.
Color is such a bitch to maintain IMO. Have to be constantly worried about it whenever you're in the sun. Also, I just like the look of grayscale better but I know that's a personal preference.
my best advice is talk them through your full iteration. Let them know you want a 1/4 sleeve, that way they can walk you though the full process.
I work outside all day and then spend 5-10 hours a week cycling so it sounds like grayscale is probably the way I should go.
You're right about that. I wear sunscreen year round and in whatever weather. Wear long sleeves now that my hands are done more often too. I have a Celtic Cross surrounded by shamrocks that wouldn't make sense not green.
Yeah, looking for someone that is going to be able to help me fill in the gaps. That would be the centerpiece but need someone with creativity to fill in the space but also the artistic ability to nail it.
It's a hard to maintain but not undoable. It also gets you in the habit of wearing sunscreen which is a good thing
For the record I don't have swastikas or anything remotely racist unless you consider my cross and shamrocks racist.
got an appointment for my first tattoo on the 11th. will be getting this song verse on my forearm It's not some message written in the dark Or some truth that no one's seen It's a little bit of everything
Between my guy trying to schedule me on a Tuesday and 2 beach trips within a month of each other I think you'll get yours first.
Tuesdays are perfect for me. I wont start that till the summer they are pretty booked Im trying to decide between these two artist https://www.instagram.com/katedecosmo/?hl=en https://www.instagram.com/natebarnestattooer/?hl=en
Got my wife an hour with an amazing artist to do some additional work to her owl tattoo with a great Groupon deal her studio gives out. She's an absolutely amazing artist, but undervalues herself.
I want to get my fingers done but have no idea what to do. I feel like anything I might get might look/sound too douchy might sound like I am trying too hard.
Is color tough to maintain if the colors are subdued? I'm hopefully doing my half sleeve this summer and was thinking of doing some grayscale with subtle reds and such.
I'm not sure what you mean subdued... I'm pretty sure the ink is the problem. I know several people who have gotten color saying they won't do anymore color due to the maintenance of them.
I guess what I mean is rather than something like this... It would be more like this... Where it would be mostly grayscale with some subtle color in it.
Well shit that's not what I was hoping to hear haha. Living in Colorado having color tattoos seems like too much of a hassle
Yeah, I have seen some really cool color tattoos even though I prefer gray. I live in Oregon where it rains for 7 months straight and like I said the people I know here who have them complain about it (including my artist).
Yeah a well done color tattoo looks better than gray does although I prefer gray if it's gonna be on my arm and visible on a daily basis. Back to the drawing board time.
I have color tattoos they aren't that difficult to care for. Just wear long sleeves or sun screen. Honestly you'll have to take care of grey too. They all fade over time. Just make sure you take care of them properly from the start.
Yeah I live by the beach and run or cycle there about 3-4 times a week. I also have grey so i have to take care of both. Care shouldn't be the deciding factor since you have to care for both
It's true to an extent, but I really don't worry about my black tattoos that much. I feel like sun damaged colors are way more obvious than gray.
I think it has a lot to do with your skin tone too. If you're very pale (don't mean you personally I mean in general) the fading shows more. Again I just think if what someone wants is color care shouldn't keep them from getting them. FWIW I am not attempting to tak him in to or out of getting them I am just offering my experience.
