Use it for this, grits, and quinoa. Need to try oatmeal. If I don't need more than 2 cups of them I always do the pot in a pot method. I have a stainless steel bowl that fits in it nicely and can do 2 cups. Just take the whole thing out after and serve right from the bowl.
Don't overlook this recipe in this thread. Makes a ton of food and is really easy I made Barbacoa in my Instant Pot last night for tacos. Twas tasty: 3-4 lb beef bottom round roast or chuck roast cut into 3 inch chunks 2 tbsp coconut oil (or canola, or grapeseed) 1 large onion quartered 5 garlic cloves 1 tbsp chipotle powder (I used 2 whole chipotles in adobo) 1 tbsp cumin 1 tbsp dried oregano 1 tsp chili powder 2 tsp sea salt 1/2 tsp ground black pepper 1 cup beef broth or bone broth 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar raw and unfiltered 1/4 cup lime juice Fresh cilantro for garnish Set Instant Pot to Sauté setting and heat 2 tbsp of coconut oil for a few minutes. Add beef to the Instant Pot and brown on all sides, about 5 minutes. Work in batches if needed. Leave the beef in the Instant Pot and turn it off. Combine the rest of the ingredients, except cilantro, in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour the sauce over the meat, close the lid, and cook for 60 minutes on high pressure. Release the pressure and open the lid. Take out the meat, shred it with 2 forks, and return it back into the Instant Pot. Stir, sprinkle with cilantro, and serve as taco meat, in a burrito bowl, etc.
And if I remember correctly, I think the poster who posted that has a big penis or something like that.
Got one for Christmas, made a fantastic orange chicken. I'm making this tomorrow, got a group coming over for the playoffs. My question is, I have 5 pounds of shrimp (instead of 1 pound). How would you alter the recipe? I'm thinking maybe 3x the amount of ingredients and just let it have extra shrimp? Can't imagine 5 pounds of pasta. Should I alter the cooking times at all? I'm pretty proficient in the kitchen, but quite the novice with the Instant Pot. https://www.365daysofcrockpot.com/instant-pot-lemon-garlic-parmesan-shrimp-pasta/
it's more that I have UC than my whiteness but as someone who had authentic indian food like 10 years ago, i'm negative on the spice scale
How spicy is the green chili chicken Arkadin? Was gonna make it tonight, but the wife doesn’t care for any type of heat.
A good bit of discussion on that a page or so back. "How spicy is it" is kind of subjective. But in general, not very. Most of the peppers in the recipe are quite mild. You could dial back or de-seed the jalapenos to further neuter it.
Sorry for being redundant then. Just scanned through the thread looking for recipes. Appreciate the reply.
Made this over the weekend. Taste is fantastic, but it was a little soupy for tacos. Next time I'll at least leave out the added water.
https://www.familyfreshmeals.com/2012/02/crockpot-cheesy-chicken-rice.html Going to try to convert that to instant pot. Imagine all I need to do is cook the chicken with everything that would normally be in the crock pot? Looks like there is enough liquid. Guessing 10 minutes for boneless skinless breasts?
I'd add some more liquid, then go ahead and cook the rice along with everything else. (instead of cooking the rice separately) Then you just shred the chicken and add the cheese/corn.
Tried the black bean soup posted in here, which was pretty damn awesome. Got the IP for Christmas from my mom, so going through and trying some stuff. Going to try the green chicken chili recipe posted previously. Hardboiled eggs were so much easier to peel using the IP than what I normally do. Made black eyed peas and spicy sausage for NYD, which was amazing too. Really liking this thing so far.
Got one of these for Xmas, very excited about really getting into it. Did some chicken last night that was pretty good. What are these things best at producing? Any accessories I should purchase? I got the 7 in 1
Was watching a video last night and they had a separate bowl that fit inside so one could do rice in the bowl and chicken in a sauce under it at the same time. Wasn’t sure if there might be anything else like that or extra racks that could be handy for some preparations.
I actually bought a bowl but its not an instant pot accessory that i used when I made some Indian dish that allowed me to cook beans at the same time as everything else. It was just like a ceramic bowl.
Probably. With the can of soup it got too thick and just constantly burned to the bottom. Eventually gave up and cooked the rice in a pot on the stove, and the chicken in the cooker. Turned out great in the end but it was frustrating
it was from a Whole30 website. Can't find it, but i ended up not making it because I'll do it this weekend when i know how to work this thing lol
https://nomnompaleo.com/2017/05/23/2017052320170523instant-pot-ground-beef-chili I'm going with this. Will report back.
I do a pot roast several times a month. Turns out great and super tender. https://www.lecremedelacrumb.com/instant-pot-pot-roast-potatoes/
You nerds really have all these seasonings laying about in the cabinet? every time i find a recipe and need like 5 ingredients I don't have I get discouraged. They're probably cheap to buy anyway I'm sure. RIP.
90% of the recipes use some combo of turmeric, cumin, paprika. So once you buy those the rest is easy.
This. The initial buy is a little pricey but 1) you can use them for tons of recipes or 2) just repeat that same recipe to get your money's worth
When you guys make that green chicken chili, do you put any water in there? Seems like it shouldn’t have no liquid in there to cook with, right?
