Yes. Danny Dietz is the only member of Luttrell's team not pictured. Here is Danny's statue in his hometown of Littleton, CO. Hard to believe people protested the statue being erected (claiming it promoted violence, etc.)
4 Original Seals (Murphy, Axelson, Dietz, Luttrell sent in on a capture/kill of a Afghan Taliban leader. They were compromised by Goat Herders, a choice was made not to kill the Herders but release them, after which they were set upon by a large Taliban force (herders gave them up?), after which there was a firefight. Called in 10 copters, in which one was shot down, 16 were killed in the crash including 8 more Seals. Of the original 4 only Luttrell survived, having crawled miles to safety and being taken in by friendlies.
Ya I don't care just wondering. Don't you have to be clean shaven for a gas mask to properly seal on your face??
A more personal one All the guys involved in the picture have returned home safely. Pic is from a night time IED removal, guy waving the flag disarmed it and is waving the all is OK sign.
I tried to find really important "turning-point"-style pictures. Not a picture, but a whole war ended up leading to Israel's creation, so that's hard to capture in an image. We've always lived in a chaotic world, but the creation of Israel has had a huge and lasting impact. The Gutenberg Bible. Martin Luther's 95 Theses.
was thinking the same thing before i posted it couldnt believe id gone through all of them with nothing from 9/11
Yeah, but the only gas I experienced in Afghanistan was after taco night at the chow hall. Nothing worse than Indians (dots not feathers) who work for a European contractor on a multi-national base trying to make Mexican food.
Marine is injured trying to disable a third bomb set up by Iraqi insurgents after he successfully disarmed the first two. After realizing he was fine, this was his response.
so they say, but there are muslims and sikhs in the military with beards now. Special Forces guys are allowed to have beards to help hide their identity and military status. It helps blend in and in some areas of Afghan our regular Army have been allowed to grow beards to help with the relations w/the natives.
special forces guys are tasked with winning the 'hearts and minds' of the locals of the countries their fighting in. in this case, they're allowed to tear their uniforms and grow facial hair to help fit in. i am in school with an older guy who's ex-ranger, ex-army special forces [ true american, imo ] and he's shown me pictures of these guys riding horses thru the country side with friendly war lords.

During the Northeast blackouts in 2003 July 4th, 1996 as President Thomas J. Whitmore makes his famous speech to the pilots before the aliens attacked Area 51 and their shields were down.
She was on AF1 flying back to Washington after and they did the swear in with her there because she wanted the press to see her covered in blood. What's crazy me is that she was wearing the same shit he got shot in for a while. She was in shock for a lot of it, but also kind of calm for the purpose of keeping the US sane at the moment
Tsar Nicholas and Alexandria..nice..no one really knew what happened to them until after the collapse of the soviet union
