Wife and I sent in our no votes the day after we received our ballots.
I voted a week ago, Caittlyn Jenner take the wheel and find a way to make this state worse than Florida and Texas, you have my axe
believe it is state law to have a Cali license/ID 6 weeks or months of moving here.
What’s the timeline for results here?
sorry you don't support a girl boss like caitlyn
typical lib smdh
Notre Dame fan...can't be trusted
Jon Cox now has my vote for ending his commercial by asking if a bear shits in the woods.
Update- received my CA real ID DL and ballot on the same day and less than 2 weeks after going to the DMV. Found a drop box on their website and headed there on a dog walk now. Compared to NY and NJ, this has been a way better experience.
Although you can’t be certain who they are voting for, Dems have to like these numbers.
Who would a Democrat voter even legitimately want to vote for out of the replacement group?
Very few will/would, however there are always some who will to make a (terrible) point.
Again, these ballot return numbers are likely good news for Newsom. The fear was that Dems wouldn’t bother to vote. Thankfully, CA mails ballots to all registered voters that can be mailed in. Dems are voting and that’s bad news for the GOP clown car.
Hope Dems and sane independents keep it up.
independents are just progressives or libertarians I feel like
Consider myself a progressive and answered No to question one and picked a liberal choice for two. Registered as a Democrat because I want a say in primaries. Hoping that Newsom holds on and that enough dems/progressives answer question two with a more liberal choice to move the party further left.
By voting no you are basically voting for a Republican
I voted no to the recall. Sorry if that wasn’t clear.
Why did you vote for someone else if you voted to not recall then?
Question 2 is something like “if recalled who should replace Newsom?”
so it’s possible to vote no to the recall but still choose a progressive option for question 2. Newsom’s campaign was telling people to leave 2 blank as if it had an effect on 1, but it does not.
Hopefully to send a message to the CA democratic party. If enough people choose a candidate left of Newsom on question 2, regardless of whether or not he is recalled (hopefully not) it’ll let the party know that voters are dissatisfied with the CA Dem party’s current pursuit of a more progressive agenda.
Voting NO means you are against the recall.
However, if the NO vote fails, then voting for a different candidate is a hedge since you cannot vote for Newsom if that happens.
Latest polls now showing 51% of likely voters favor not recalling Newsom. Let’s hope this holds over the next two weeks.
Get those NO votes in, folks.
Nah here in CA a non-insignificant portion of us who go Independent fall squarely in the middle and don't want to deal with the D/R shenanigans.
Which these days obviously makes us bleeding liberals because we're not giant pieces of shit.
America in 2021. Good times.
seems like newsom is relatively safe and it just took a crumb of media coverage once ballots started going out
especially when the GOP alternative is Elder, and not a uniquely popular option like Arnold
also cosign, the california recall mechanism is insane and dumb
The threshold for a recall is insanely low in CA. The GOP habitually abuses it (case in point this recall).
If Newsom prevails, he and the Dems need to fix this awful loophole post haste.
I agree with you, ironically all of the direct democracy bullshit in CA was the result of a justified effort by turn of the century progressives to end control of the state government by railroad companies.
Some of the most terrible laws ever passed through the prop mechanism. Prop 22, and the straight up evil prop 8, and the bill that ultimately killed the GOP in CA, prop187.
This is interesting. Are you’re referring to the turn of the 20th century? I’d assume yes because railroads were more relevant then. Link to more info?
LAst three polls Real Clear Politics has posted has do not remove at +8, +8, +19. And one of those was Trafalagar Group, and the +19 poll has an A/B rating by 538.
Faulconer the San Diego mayor i believe is the guidance.
Walked my ballot down the street this morning to the drop box.
Thank you for your service.
I don't know much about Caitlyn Jenner other than that when she takes the wheel people die.
Vote or die
He’s a Republican, so no. Though he’s not a freak show like Elder.
Did this last night. Drop box was two blocks away. Amazingly easy to vote.
Voted over the weekend.
this is around the corner from my place, wish I would have known
I know he’s a Republican. The way the voting works before Elder got so much traction the idea was that it was the strategic play. The bandaid is off though. If you’re a full on authoritarian you’re auto at least number 2 choice in most parts of America.
Elder is an absolutely disgusting option. Fascist tendencies and no plan to govern other than break things without a cogent solution (the GOP way).
Keep the NO votes rolling in folks.
Voted 4 times today
t-minus 3 days until GOP media starts saying illegals voting probably lost them this recall.
Not sure about that “strategy”. Ideally it’d be vote no then pick a Democrat to vote for even with that no vote to try to hedge the bets, but that was never seriously pitched. It was just vote “no” then when it got close it was time to bring in outside voices/talk about the fucked up shit Elder would do.
That egg throw attempt was like a 50-cent level first pitch. How do you not make contact from that distance?
Also I feel like he shouldn't have stopped whatever they were doing if that was the only threat - that's kinda soft if you rush to the car from a poorly thrown egg attack.
