It is implied in the Xeet that the teams waiting for them in the B1G are going to “pick them apart” not the ones they’re entering with
UCLA isn’t good Kal isn’t good and they struggled against both. Also next year they won’t have Williams so yeah they are going to get picked apart by more than just OSU and UM
USC sucks I’m not arguing that. They would beat anyone in the B1G besides the bucs, wolfs, and maybe Pedos and/or Iowa.
How many teams are we going to have next year? 18? Yeah post Caleb Williams with a Lincoln Riley defense will definitely put them bottom half next season.
https://fbschedules.com/2024-usc-football-schedule/ 9/1 - LSU - Neutral 9/7 - Utah St - Home 9/21 -Michigan - Away 9/28 - Wisconsin - Home 10/5 - Minnesota - Away 10/12 - PSU - Home 10/19 - Maryland - Away 10/26 - Rutgers - Home 11/2 - Washington - Away 11/16 - Nebraska - Home 11/23 - UCLA - Away 11/30 - Notre Dame - Home Their home/away slate is extremely favorable for Y1 in the B1G. Think the other 3 Pac schools got at least one boning on the schedule for later season cold weather away games and USC didn't really get that. Still, they'll struggle to get bowl eligible next year imo.
They should try to go into the PSU game with 0 or 1 loss so that Franklin thinks they're a legit contender and shits down his leg.
USC is going to look other worldly against the likes of Michigan State and Nebraska and then hopelessly overmatched against every team from Iowa and up
Franklin gonna sneak out a win every couple years and get to sacrifice a few more OCs to boot and stay in Happy Valley forever
The Air Raid doesn’t work in big time college football. It somewhat did for a bit - at least enough to pump offensive stats for non-contenders - but everyone has caught up to it.
I think it can work if you pay attention to literally any other part of your team. Washington lead the nation in pass attempts last year and for all intents and purposes ran an air raid adjacent system due to their personnel. SC is just so incredibly soft mentally and physically.
1000% this. Air Raid as a concept is fine, just need something akin to toughness and I haven’t seen it from a single Riley team in Norman or Pasadena.
It’s what happens with every Air Raid program. You can’t emphasize everything, so something needs to take a backseat - and it’s always toughness.
He’s the same but the opposite of Marcus Freeman/Brent Venables Coordinators cosplaying as head coaches
I think he’s a better coach than those two, the Leach coaching tree just is what it is, which is 7 on 7 and skeleton practicing with touch tackling, and a complete abandonment of anything resembling a DL and seemingly not even caring enough to try and fix it.
I think he may be slightly better, but most folks don’t realize he was dealt a great hand at OU and his team was worse every year he was there. And the USC results are very much on par with those two.
I think he’s a good bit better than both though still not elite. I’m also not sure his OU team’s got worse every year, they were just your standard OU teams who couldn’t beat anyone with a pulse outside of the Big 12 just like it was under Stoops after winning it all in 2000. Riley went: 12-2 (8-1), Big 12 title, CFP semi 12-2 (8-1), Big 12 title, CFP semi 12-2 (8-1), Big 12 title, CFP semi 9-2 (7-1), Big 12 title, NY6 11-2 (7-2) Hard to say they got worse every year. That’s the same Oklahoma team it was for most of the previous two decades.
Mayfield - transfer from Texas Tech Murray - transfer from A&M Hurts - transfer from Bama Rattler - HS recruit Williams - HS recruit Moss - committed to Helton
To his credit, he made Jalen a ton of money. I just don’t think he gives a single fuck about recruiting, which is one of the main reasons he was so vehemently against a move to the SEC with OU.
I'm not gonna call him a bad coach, but losing to THAT Michigan team is pretty embarrassing. Losing to any team that isn't a dedicated option team and only threw for like 30 yards against you is really fucking bad and there's no real way to sugarcoat it. You knew coming in they couldn't throw the ball, so I need to hear how you weren't prepared to face that.
