Man please someone doc the trash ass Iron Bowl takes where Mac was the worst thing to happen to our program in years. I was calling those idiots (from our thread) out day 1.
All I have in the word doc from that time period is me comparing Tua's numbers (A) against LSU to Mac's (B) against Auburn: But in general I don't think opinions of a player after their first couple of starts are as worthy of mockery as opinions of a player after you've seen them start for an entire season.
They showed their injuries Monday night and it looked like a lot of starters out for extended time or the season. Mac is playing super well but I think folks don’t need the hyperbole around other players in the class.
I’ll be honest about me and mac- he had stupid pants on first time he played a meaningful game for Bama, he’s white. He overcame those obstacles
I’ll be honest about me and mac - i always believed in him knew he would be as good as he was had his back from day 1 lots of haters and losers out there Capstone 88 but he was always my boy
I was so adamant about my wrong opinion I called people names for having the audacity to disagree with me and believing Mac could be good. Gotta go all in you know
Thought he would be much better than a lot of Champs thought in 2020. Didn't think he would look this good this early in the league. Still think it will be hard for him to get into that rarefied top-5 air, but he should be a lock for top 10 for a long time.
I’ll be honest about me and Mac, once I found out his name was actually McCorkle i was never able to take him serious.
Easy when you have studs like (checks notes) Jakobi Myers, Kendrick Bourne, and Brandon Bolden making you look good.
Yeah but it's the Patriots yada yada. Unfortunately I don't think there will ever be anything Mccorkle can do to get some credit. Do I think he'll be a tier 1 QB? No I don't think he'll be in Brady, Manning, Roethlisberger, Brees, Rodgers etc etc territory but he's pretty clearly a solid ass QB as a rookie and should only get better and have a long career
He was okay. Got lucky on a dropped pick 6. Missed a few throws. But he is getting the ball out quick and the scheme is really helping.
His deep ball is looking nice for the most part. They been gradually opening up the playbook after making him be a dink and dunk type QB for a good bit of the early going.
what he did early in the season was impressive because he is a rookie. what he is doing now is impressive because everyone has tape of them and the Pats are evolving how they play.
Picked him up in a couple leagues a week or two ago. Point being, the lazy “he’s just his WRs” was clearly imbecilic to anyone who had actually watched him play at Bama.
Patriots saw something and made a good pick. Saints and Payton wanted to trade up for him, but couldn’t make it work. When coaches like Payton and Bill B want a guy at QB, then that usually is a good sign that they probably pretty good.
Also believe the rumors that the 49ers really liked him too, but got too wowed by Lances athleticism and decided to go with Lance.
I’m going to love watching the 30 for 30 on that decision in a few years. Whether it works out or not. By all appearances Mac was the guy at 3 until the fan base revolted leading up to that pick.
Wonder what he’d look like for the Jets. Seemed pretty crazy Wilson was their clear choice from the beginning.
Yeah. Seems like their was probably also some split between GM/Talent scouts and coaches. Some wanted Jones and some wanted Lance.. 49ers trading up still seems weird to me. Jimmy G if healthy works for them
at the time I bet plenty of people were talking about how much better of a pick he was than Aaron Rodgers.
