He was a starter for one season which he played behind the best offensive line in the country, with the best weapons in football and guys running wide open about every play. Stop
His accuracy was impressive and has adequate arm strength. He also put some incredible deep ball throws on tape, wouldn’t be surprised to see him drafted at the back of the first.
Should be drafted in the late 2nd-3rd, will get drafted in the mid to late first. To me, he seems pretty much a textbook low-ceiling, high-floor player that should max out as a fringe top-10 QB in the league, but won’t be a bust. Think Matt Ryan or Kirk Cousins. He’s smart, competitive, learns from his mistakes and a film room junkie. He moves well in the pocket, anticipates very well, and the only tool where I really feel he’s elite is in the timing of his throws. His best fit is with a franchise with an aging QB where he can spend a year learning and watching.
He had some of the best QB stats of all time and clearly out played the “2nd best” QB who outplayed the “best” QB but yeah he’s a 3rd round guy. Idiots.
Every scouting report I’ve read says he has average to below average arm talent. Solid accuracy, but poor arm strength. Basically a right handed Matt Leinart.
He'll go in the first or early second because of position. Best comparison is Kirk Cousins. He won't win any MVPs but could be a starter if the team around him is good enough. Most likely a career backup/stop-gap player.
He doesn’t have a cannon, but his arm strength is definitely not below average, he’s a fantastic deep ball thrower. First play:
Eli breakdowns Mac’s performance against Norte Dame in the playoff game on ESPN + “Detail”. It’s highly informative, insightful, and entertaining. Eli’s comedic timing and deadpan delivery are hilarious. Recommend viewing.

He’s losing his three best weapons and a chunk of his OL, nowhere to go but down on boards. This draft will be top-heavy at QB, but there’s a lot of teams with need.
Mac was a baller in college but just like every FSU QB who was successful it’s tough gauge how good they are when they have the best players at every position in college.
