Hope the monsoon didn't prevent the train ride. Heaviest rain I have seen in a while.

Also, I have eaten tacos the past 2 days for lunch. Does anyone have an authentic rec for tacos? Loa #11is my go to.

Looks like it’s temporarily closed, but Citron Et Sel near the Westin is pretty good.

Just saw it yesterday. Was pretty empty but some of their specialty tacos sound interesting.
Down main their is a Guatamalan place that's good. Ate their yesterday called San Marco's.

My house is out by cunao and anytime I was close to jalisco I had to grab something. I need to get back in town and visit these places

Staying at the Read house for a few days next week and taking my kid to aquarium/zoo/children's museum. I'm going to go back and look through this thread but any recs for casual restaurants or take out?

I'm definitely going back to the Italian place you guys recommended earlier this summer. Was fantastic.

Han Mi on Broad St(not sure if kids would like it)
    Tremont Tavern
    Il Primo
    The Boathouse/Sidetracks
    Bleu Fox Cheese Shop(sandwichs)
    Daily Ration(call b4 you haul)

Childrens museum is a cesspool of germs. Would avoid at this time.

Depending on age of kids the incline>point park>incline>1885

The zoo here is laid out nicely. We go a lot. We have started loving Pizza Bros. Lupis is classic though and will never turn it down.
Once again depending on age, the Pumpkin Patch on Signal is a favorite of my oldest.

To the person who asked the original ?, go hiking at Prentice Cooper and then eat at River Drifters on way back. I do this a lot with my oldest.

Will probably try the pizza place. Have tickets to children's museum but they were cheap as shit so may cancel. Don't want my kids getting sick.

Creative Discovery sucks. Hard pass. High Point Climbing has a kids area that’s pretty cool if they are old enough. Ruby Falls or Rock City if you’ve never been. My kids like Mr T’s pizza and ice cream if we’re out that way, super casual.

I see rave reviews for this place Community Pie.. As advertised or are the other places better?

Main street meats/blue Orleans/Champys also caught my eye. :idk:

Il primo is my first stop for sure. Breakfast from daily ration as well.

I'm going to pass on creative discovery. Do aquarium one day and zoo the next.

Community Pie is good but I'd go Pizza Bros or Lupis instead. If you're into the style of pizza Community Pie specializes then by all means check them out.

Main Street Meats is excellent. Champys is good but it's been a while since I've been and I haven't been to Blue Orleans in years. I think it was on one of those restaurant rescue shows or something. I dont think it's anything special.

I'm a big fan of Brewhaus, Taconooga, and Big Chill - all on the North shore. 1885 in St. Elmo is also really good. State of Confusion on Main St is a good spot if you're looking for outdoor seating.

Skip Blue Orleans. Used to be great but I am very surprised they are still in business.

Not a fan of Community Pie. Pizzeria Cortille in Red Bank, Pizza Bros, Lupis are the 3 pizza joints you should consider imo.

My only thing against pizza bros is their pizza doesn't reheat well and it's on the pricier side

Goodfellas is pretty good pizza as well for being kind of a chain. Solid cocktails as well.

Actually had Southside Pizza a couple of months ago as well and it was also a good pie. Reminiscent of Pizza Bros but with a slightly less crispy crust. Also had a Calabrian chili oil to put on the pizza that added a nice kick.

Nah, Goodfellas. Small chain (like 5 restaurants) of speakeasy-themed pizza restaurants. Try to do the NYC-style thing with an arcade, and then have a speakeasy styled downstairs cocktail bar called Wiseguys Lounge.

Was planning to go as well. Childcare kind of fell through on us. May just try to get my son to bed around 715 and then come solo. Gonna gauge my wife’s reaction to that shortly.

Just that one. They own a few Choo Choo BBQ’s around town too, plus my buddy is about to open a place called Proper Pig on E. Brainerd Rd in the old Wendy’s. I sold him that bldg in December but he can’t find help right now to actually open.
